Earlier this year I learned that one of my customers paid for his advertising with a credit card that didn't actually belong to him.

Last fall, another customer skipped out on her bill with us, as well as her lease with her business space in the middle of the night.

So late this afternoon, I get a call from some gal who said she was a former NY coroner, MD and is starting a practice as a "couples sex therapist" in the rinkydink town of Auburndale. All the while she was on the phone with me she was sucking off a ciggarette and behaving like no "therapist" I've ever encountered.
So I'm setting her up in our database as a customer and she's going to be running this "business" out of her ... get this... "Apartment..Oh I mean Suite number 102."

Oh and she needed to ask some dude in the backgrond if she had the building number right, or just chat.

Sounded like a rode hard and put away wet kinda gal. Maybe I'm just being over judgemental, but something doesn't sit right with whole thing.

What do you guys think?

I smoke, but dam I keep it unlit if I'm on the phone doing business...cell phone company, power, you name it.

This gal was like a bad May West impression with a thick NY accent, and an even worse additude.

Could barely get a word in edgewise, and she was like, "what is the cost" ?

I'm sorry, but there are many possibilities for advertising than can be stated in a single figure amount.

I want to end this thing before it starts.

I'd ask this one for the money in advance. Though she's probably used to doing the same with her ~~John's~~ clients.

No sis, this is a fresh call in today. She just sounds like either a sheister, or some drama class reject trying to build an acting resume.

I took the info to my boss (yes the new one) and she too said...get advenced payment...

Well after that kook with the crappy credit card, I'm gun shy. Any losses come off my revenue, even if it's not my fault.

So I'm more than double warry because it could mean the difference between eating well for a month or living on ramen noodles. And I'm only half kidding.

I have to admit, Boss lady let her hair down a bit, and we had a god laugh over this. I asked her how she wants us to deal with new businesses that we can forsee "tanking" rather soon.

So new business comes in, it tanks, and another will come to take it's place. Yeah. and the cycle continues, and it just keeps the roller coaster of small businesses in and out of the community.

Oh well, the life of a sales Rep.

In some ways you are right Jimmers, but I also have to follow corporate dogma. Revenue at all costs.

Boss lady, in jest mind you, said to sell her into Our Voice, after all, it's a target market for the Family unit.

I'd say her previous job experience probably won't help, unless she was resurrecting the dead as well.

Well she never called back today, and I'm not going to persue this at all.

If she calls back I'll be professional and all, but I'm not seeking this one to sell to by any means.
