Title: Mariott hotel Boston
Post by Jonny on Mar 11th, 2008, 5:26pm
Here are a few pics of the stainless steel glass rail system that I did at the end of 2007. Had to wait until they were ready to open to get decent pics.

The job was so big that I have 53 pics of it, but I think you can get a feel for it with just a few pic.....LOL  [smiley=grin2.gif]

Jonny,

Wow!  How long did that take?  That is a lot of work and I didn't see all of it!  How would you bid something like that?  Are the raw materials as price volatile as everything else?  Do you have a huge back log of materials?  (so many questions...lol)

It's stunning!

Very Nice.  That is exactly the type of rails and glass we want at our lake home, plus the spiral staircase.  Once I get the arch. drawings I see a trip to the Boston area to pick up our jonny made loft access system to get them installed during construction.

Very cool!!!!!

It took three of us over three months to complete.

Seeing that im a small shop I did this job by labor only, the company I did it for supplied all the material.

The first nine weeks of this year was seven days a week on a job for the same company, that theater opens soon so I will have pics of that job soon.  8) .....almost a mile of mirror finish brass...LOL

I dont see where the joints are ? How do you join them ? Are they stainless steel as in surgical stainless steel ?

Did you do all the measuring too ?

The joints are welded and finished on the jobsite.

Its a lesser grade of stainless than surgical because it will not be getting wet, so there is low risk of rusting.

I work from blue prints, but not all measurments on them are right....so that causes headaches all around....LOL

Lovely job, you should be proud!

(The carpeting is atrocious - and I know you didn't pick it out).

I'm just glad I don't have to clean it all.

Very Nice Jonny!  Impressive...
The carpeting is kind of cool too...kinda phsycadelic (sp?).  Glad you got the job.

What is the name of the business you do?...what is it called...metal welding???  Just wondering.  Whatever is called though, you know what you're doing.

Real nice.  Makes me want to say, "Let's take the stairs, honey.  Take your's and grab my suitcase too, I'll meet you at the top."     ;)

No really, beautiful.  A nice slow descend, hand in hand, arm in arm.  Enjoyable, for if there ever is an unhurried pace for business life, also.

Yeah, the carpet is colorful.  Looks like a Dali psychedelic drunk slinky orgy.

My companies name is Plymouth rail fabricators.

We specailize in non-ferrious metal (That means any metal but plain steel) and been in biz for 16 years.

Not bad for three guys, eh?

Looks sweet, Jonny. We had the same style of stairs in our house in Florida. It took us a couple of years to find someone to do it, and ended up hiring a guy named Skip (stainlesswerks) who did railings for yachts. Awesome look!

Anyone who can make pieces of metal look that good is an artist in my book ! Its the art of sculpturing, with power tools ...

Jonny, those hands of yours can create some serious magic  :)

Just look at those curves ...
