Title: Proud of El, and proud of EJ
Post by George_J on Mar 3rd, 2008, 2:04am
We just received Ellen's progress report for the second semester of her Junior year in high school:

Chemistry--A
AP English--A
AP U.S. History--B
Drawing II--A
Painting I--A
Health--A (required class--you may remember how delightful this was)

So far, El's carrying a 3.6 average in high school--I've told her repeatedly that I want her to enjoy high school, and that I don't expect her to be a straight "A" student.  Next year her schedule will be heavily freighted with art classes, and she'll have a lot of studio time.  Things change, but at the moment she's talking about pursuing CG, animation, and game design in college.  I doubt she'll starve if that's what she decides to do.   ;)

EJ has just been elected to the Board of Directors of ACRA--the American Cultural Resources Association.  She'll be attending a board meeting in Ogden, Utah in a week.  She's certainly propelled her small CRM company to new heights.  She's worked hard.  I'm very proud of her.

Sorry for the bragging thread, but I think my girls are about the coolest people I know.

Best wishes,

George

Sure a lot to be proud of, George.  Yep, cool kid, love her schedule, and can't believe she is so young with such good artwork.  I love it, and her poetry, too.
Great balance of knowhow with the other important grades, I think she's really cool, and if I was a high school junior, she'd be coooolest!!!

EJ has a really interesting job, historical preservation.  Big coolness as a BoD!  First job, get cool pictures on the ACRA website.  What a pair for you, a big smile from cheek to cheek with these girls on each one.  Way to go, George!    ;)

I think it's lovely to see you so proud of your girls and so happy to share their achievements. They're as lucky to have you as you are to have them and it's so nice for all of us to see the love and pride you all have in each other. It does me good to see it!

Thank you Georgie - for everything  [smiley=hug.gif]

Damn, I got that she has a 3.83 GPA!  Either way, that's wonderful!

Carolyn (whose daughter will finish grad school with a 3.68 GPA)

George, you are one of the most intelligent people on this board.  Of course she'd take after her  Dad.

And I can't even lay that mistake off to not having my morning coffee yet.  Thanks brew.

Still damned good!

Thanks, everybody, for all the kind words.  The kiddo just returned to school today after a bout with the 'flu last week, and I know she left this morning with a smile on her face from the things you said.

EJ says I should learn to keep my mouth shut, but I know she's pretty happy about it as well.

I took your advice, and got a haircut today.  Perhaps that will help.
;)

Best,

George

U B surrounded by some damned fine wimmens, George.

What, exactly, did you have to do with all this? Methinks any rubbin' off would be comin' in your direction, not the other way around.

Not much that I had to do with, if truth be told.  As far as kids go, some are easier than others, and El's always been pretty easy to be around.  She was born more mature than I'll ever be.

I've received much more from El and EJ than I've ever given, or ever will be able to give.

Thanks, Bill.

Best,

George

NEVER apologize for recognizing another's achievement.  We need to hear more of this kind of thing!

Congrats to both!

Jerry

PS  What's an "A"? :)

El says thank you.  She sends this "furson" by way of thanks.  (Done for a friend of hers--it's her image of her friend's avatar. )

I think El enjoyed drawing the green cloth as much as anything else.   ;)

Best,

George
