Title: Re: Hemmorhoids Post by Linda_Howell on Feb 27th, 2008, 8:35pm O.K. allaya...stop. >:( She's really hurting and has enough problems with being 9 months prenant as it is. Mel, after Ava is born they'll go away. What you've asked about is the only thing you can use right now. Google, Sitz baths. Cold packs will help. BTW....Men get these too ya know. Some men, are a hemmoroid. Just ask Helen. ;) |

Title: Re: Hemmorhoids Post by E-Double on Feb 27th, 2008, 9:05pm easy mama...there was solid advice imbedded. witch hazel is a good treatment and is the main ingrediant in many of the meds. I never tried a sitz bath. I think my other half did. PM me if ya don't wanna go further with the "TMI" b'c it depends on the severity.... hugs and relief and gimme da bayyybeee |

Title: Re: Hemmorhoids Post by Melissa on Feb 27th, 2008, 9:20pm Thanks for the suggestions and humor. I appreciate them both! But the only reason why I'm in a good mood right now is cause I finally pooped and then Jesse rubbed my lower back. [smiley=grin2.gif] on 02/27/08 at 21:15:11, AussieBrian wrote:

Omg.. this was funny. I hope you laughed too Melo ;) A sitz bath might give you longer lasting relief (good stuff there Linda). Just follow the directions, use Jesse as needed. [smiley=grin2.gif] Hang in there girl, you're almost at the finish line (or the start line, depending on how you look at it)!! Love ya, Patty |

Title: Re: Hemmorhoids Post by Ray on Feb 28th, 2008, 12:41am Mel: I'm not a woman [duh] but have had some problems with hemmorhoids. In addition to the previous advice, I got longer relief using a cortisone foam by prescription. With your impending labor, I don't know if it would be appropriate, but you could ask your Dr. if other measures are not enough. They're no fun to have, but everyone seems to think it's funny when someone ELSE has them. Personally, I think it's a pain in the butt ;;D Wishing you well, Ray |

Title: Re: Hemmorhoids Post by Annette on Feb 28th, 2008, 1:41am Just warm salt bath helps too. Sea salt is best if you have them. 1 cup of sea salt in half a tub of warm water, sit and soak in there for as about half an hour. Pretty relaxing too. If you use commercial bath fiz, its a good idea to avoid those with colours, they tend to stain you know what . Avoid sitting on hard surfaces for long, put a cushion down everywhere ... |

Title: Re: Hemmorhoids Post by thomas on Feb 28th, 2008, 8:35am Perparation H suppositories are what I use when I get them. Be sure to get lots of fiber in your diet so you're not straining when you have to "go". And keep the area as clean as you possibly can. Hope you get better soon! |

Title: Re: Hemmorhoids Post by Melissa on Feb 28th, 2008, 8:41am Thanks so much everybody. Not only is your advice helping me now, but it will help after Ava is here too until they go away. This is the only time in my life I get them (at the end of pregnancy) and before I'd just suck it up and deal without doing anything, but I'm getting old, LOL. LYG, :)mel |

Title: Re: Hemmorhoids Post by Charlie on Feb 28th, 2008, 9:49am This is one thing that I'm been spared but I know it's a horror. I'm hoping that they are a pregnancy thing only. One of my friends has had them for years and he takes stool softeners every day. He says that they are effective. I suppose you have to be careful with drugs but maybe...... Ouch. Charlie |

Title: Re: Hemmorhoids Post by Groov on Mar 2nd, 2008, 12:02am Feel lucky that yours will likely disappear & not come back Mel. If you ever had them re-occurring every year and staying for months at a time, you'd be miserable. Many people in my line of work have that problem. Lifting heavy stuff as a part of normal work duty often causes them to never really go away. They are miserable to live with. Docs don't always just go in & cut them out these days. Not sure why, but if it's chronic...it seems like a reasonable solution. |
