Title: Baking help - recipes needed! Post by Emily on Feb 22nd, 2008, 5:34am For my birthday, I had a cookie press but I haven't had a chance to use it. http://www.cooking.com/products/shprodde.asp?SKU=189440 Today is the day! I have a recipe for vanilla cookies, but was wondering if anyone had a different recipe that I could try? |

Title: Re: Baking help - recipes needed! Post by LeLimey on Feb 22nd, 2008, 6:17am Oooh Emily I know what I meant to tell you - I found tinned pumpkin! Waitrose sells it - I've died and gone to year round pumpkin pie heaven LOL |

Title: Re: Baking help - recipes needed! Post by LeLimey on Feb 22nd, 2008, 6:21am If you find a recipe for those viennese biscuit thingummie's please share! I love those but I've never made them. Most of the cookie recipe's I have are dollopable not pipeable so I don't think they'd work for you - can that thing cope with "bits" in the cookies or not? |

Title: Re: Baking help - recipes needed! Post by Emily on Feb 22nd, 2008, 6:27am That's really funny that you mention it, because I was in the international food section in House of Fraser (buying ridiculously expensive Aunt Jemima's pancake mix - can't beat it for making waffles in a waffle iron!) and found tinned pumpkin too! I'm sure that Waitrose is far cheaper though so I will be heading there and getting some ASAP. That's so much easier than scraping out a whole pumpkin. Funny story - when I was a kid, my dad volunteered to make pumpkin pies for a church supper. Me, my sis and my dad worked all afternoon and baked 15 pies. We were just setting off for the church when my step-mum arrived to help and asked to taste a small piece. [smiley=hurl.gif] He didn't realise that the pumpkin in the tin didn't have the spices already added!!! Edited to add: I don't think it can cope with bits, however, I'm going to dip my vanilla cookies half in melted choc and let it set. It can't be far off a viennese whirl then, can it? |

Title: Re: Baking help - recipes needed! Post by AussieBrian on Feb 22nd, 2008, 6:31am Forgive my computer, Emily. It's suffering from either PMS or BSE (I can never remember the difference) but I can't actually post the link. Simply type cooks.com into your browser and try their search engine. My initial attempt at 'cookie press vanilla' yielded 200 suggestions faster than I can open a can of beer. |

Title: Re: Baking help - recipes needed! Post by Emily on Feb 22nd, 2008, 10:10am Cookies all made. That cookie press is great! I'd never used one before. The recipe wasn't great though. I found a good one with cream cheese in, but I'm all out. That'll be Sunday's job I guess... Back to the dishes... Yuck. |

Title: Re: Baking help - recipes needed! Post by Tiannia on Feb 25th, 2008, 6:38pm I have my great grandmothers cookie cook book. It is shit I think 80 years old. But my mom gave it to me because my sister was not into baking at all. It has a whole huge section on pressed cookies. They where very popular in the 40-50's I can take a look thru it tonight and see if any pop out at me. I can make you a copy and send it to you, I'm nit sure how well it would work to scan them and post them here. Guess it would depend on how many people want those type of recipes. Let me know I'll see what I can do. |
