Our province of Ontario were just given a "new" long week end! [smiley=bow.gif] This one is called "Family Day" and will fall on the 3rd Monday of February each year. Really cool for us race fans as it is the same week end as the Daytona 500.

Carol, I guess you will only get to enjoy one of these as you are retiring at month end. ;;D ;;D ;;D

Nice break from a long winter. ;)

When does the madness end? How many more holidays are needed until everyone says, "we now have enough holidays?" What, exactly, would that number be? 70? 80? 365?

I'm assuming that businesses will be required to shut down?

This "holiday" was so poorly thought out - it's become a joke.

With my company, all it means is that now we have a fixed floater day. We used to get 3 of them to use as we saw fit - now we get two of those and this one.

Small businesses are screaming about it. Not easy for them to close shop - make no $ but still have to pay their staff.

Some politicians will do anything to get the next vote!

I agree 100% that this is a political move. Small business is the one that gets really hurt over this. It is on the other hand a nice break during this long winter and Angie and I will really enjoy the time off.

As far as the company I work for (Auto Parts), which is owned by two brothers, does double the business on the Tuesday after a long week end so they do not really lose anything over this at all.

What idiot invented the 2 day weekend, 5 day work week.

Should have been the other way around.

5 days of fishing, 2 days to earn gas and bait money.

I work to live, I do not live to work. Any time away from the stress and bitching from my customers is greatly appreciated. The two brothers that own the shop are multi millionaires and will not give an inch.

I have not had a raise in four years and they say our store is #2 out of 12 and even though they acknowledge the success of this shop, they cry that there is no money for raises.GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! >:(

So that is why I will take any time off that I can get, with pay! Sorry about that, it is a little bit of a sore spot with me. [smiley=frown.gif]
