Title: TV Question....? Post by Jackie on Feb 13th, 2008, 3:22pm I'm in the market for a new TV. I've decided on a flat panel LCD/HD.....between 40" & 46". Now....what brand? Any tips appreciated. Oh....what do you all know about the Bose surround sound that only has two speakers and 1 woofer (I think that's what it's called) :-/ Thanks, Jackie |

Title: Re: TV Question....? Post by JDH on Feb 13th, 2008, 5:04pm Oh boy, Blake's really going to enjoy those Cardinal games now. But how am I ever gonna get him to go fishing now? He'll never leave the house again ;;D Like Beth said Jackie, Consumer Reports is always a good place to look when you're buying electronics. Beware though, I thought I had done my homework when I bought my big Mitsubishi and it turned out to be a pos so I vote no for them. When in doubt go Sony. They've been making nice TV's for a long time. As for the surround sound I think it's like most everything else in that you get what you pay for. Those Bose systems you mentioned look really nice. I've not heard one but I've heard those wave systems Bose makes and that'll be the next home stereo I buy. Those things are awesome for as small as they are. happy shopping |

Title: Re: TV Question....? Post by brewcrew on Feb 13th, 2008, 5:33pm Unfortunately, you'll be seeing more Brewers games than Cardinal games on that new beauty. It's okay, though. Tell Blake to break on through to the other side. ;) Edited to add: Since 1998 we have only owned two TV's - The first one a Magnavox, and the current one a 38" flat screen Phillips/Magnavox HD. The picture tube went kerflooey on the first one (too much Barney or something). Love the new one, but then I've never owned a flat screen LCD before, so I have nothing to compare it to. |

Title: Re: TV Question....? Post by BlueMeanie on Feb 13th, 2008, 5:45pm I have an Hitachi which I love, but... my son just bought a Panasonic and it is awsome. According to consumer reports, it is the top rated flat screen. No matter which you choose you're going to have to keep Blake from spending 24/7 watching it. ;;D |

Sony does rate the best on many of the models tested. The Sony Bravia Model #KDL-46S300 rates as a best buy in the 46-47" models. Cost around $1900.00 Beth |

Title: Re: TV Question....? Post by barry_sword on Feb 13th, 2008, 6:42pm We have a plazma 50 inch Toshiba with HD programming, 5.1 kick-ass surround sound. [smiley=jammin.gif] We have been building this system for a couple of years now but finding it hard to stay on top of the tech. Now we are looking at "Blueray" and a PVR Satellite receiver? Nascar is costing us a fortune and we have not left our living room yet!! [smiley=yikes.gif] Package bundles are sometimes the best bargain but we opted to buy our components individually, but a lot more expensive to do it this way. Let us know what you decide on, ok! :) |

JDH...Blake is always pissed because up here the only time he gets to see the Cards is when they play the Cubs.... >:( |

Title: Re: TV Question....? Post by barry_sword on Feb 14th, 2008, 7:43am Jackie, one more thing if it helps you at all. We picked a movie with both awesome sound and picture (I Robot) and went into a sound room, that is how we picked out our sound system and did the same to pick out a tv. watch and listen to it before you buy it. Charlie, is your tv color? ;;D ;;D ;;D |
