Title: Are you malnourished? Post by artonio7 on Feb 12th, 2008, 3:22pm Have you ever wondered, what your appropriate Body Mass Index (BMI) is, or what vitamins you should be taking for your size and age? Here is a great link that I found that assists one with all sorts of helpful info. http://www.nutritiondata.com/ I thought it was fascinating (but then again I'm easily distracted by shiny objects) and I hope some of you may find it useful. I never paid much attention to nutrition and that crap... but now that I'm older than dirt I thought it might be time. I discovered that my BMI is 22.8.... yippee skippee! :) I hope it's somewhat helpful. with warm regards, Tony |

Title: Re: Are you malnourished? Post by deltadarlin on Feb 13th, 2008, 8:18am Mine is 23.5, however, that really doesn't mean anything. I'm not fat, but I'm definitely overweight and out of shape. 3 years ago, at the convention in Dallas, my BMI was 22.2. Lower BMIs don't mean a whole lot if your out of shape. On the flip side, I know people who fall into the *obese* range who are in a helluva lot better shape than I am and I couldn't keep up with them if I tried. |

Title: Re: Are you malnourished? Post by thomas on Feb 13th, 2008, 9:04am Your current Body Mass Index (BMI) is 30.8. BMI is a standardized ratio of weight to height, and is often used as a general indicator of health. The "normal" BMI for an adult man of your height is 18.5 to 24.9. This translates to a healthy weight range of 152 to 205 lbs. However, BMI does not take body composition into account. A weight above this range could still be considered healthy if your percentage body fat is less than average. For more accurate determination of body fat levels, consider using a body fat caliper. Not sure how much stock I put into that. But I've been working out pretty good for the last two weeks, my pants are already looser and I'm feeling a lot more solid and less flabby than I had been getting over the last two years or so. |

You're my best friend...LOL Mine came out to 25.9 - it said a woman my age with "the other details" should be no more than 24.9. Then I read something about maybe not enough fat composition? I'm confused because my doctor keeps telling me I need to gain weight. I might have done this wrong. I want a doughnut. Langa |
