Title: Hiking may be detrimental to my health~pics-more! Post by deltadarlin on Feb 11th, 2008, 8:39am Jimbo and I went hiking several times last week, the first time was behind our barn/shop to look at the beaver dams. The second time was to look at the bottoms behind our house. The first day, I slipped in the mud and went down (didn't hurt anything but my pride) and the second day, the toe of my hunting boot caught on a downed log and I went down on one my left side and caught myself with my left hand(damned thing is still sore). Good news is, my camera never hit the ground ;;D. Here are some pics, have a lot more but for some reason can't seem to upload any to either of my photo accounts. Title: Re: Hiking may be detrimental to my health~pics Post by George_J on Feb 11th, 2008, 9:04am Looks kinda wet back in there. Are the beaver dams upslope or downslope from you? I prefer them downslope. :P At least that way, they flood somebody else's place. You may have pitched a header while you were hiking, but I don't think it sounds like you did so badly--in similar country, I have a habit of putting my foot down muskrat holes unexpectedly, which causes all manner of mirth in slapstick-minded offspring. Best wishes, George |

Title: Re: Hiking may be detrimental to my health~pics Post by deltadarlin on Feb 11th, 2008, 9:30am Those are *downhill* at the back of our property. It never dries up, even in the hottest part of the year. Believe that most of it is springfed. Oh yeah, was standing on my front porch last night, calling one of my cats. Got the flashlight to see if he was making an effort to come back. Saw 3 sets of *glowy* eyes in my pasture. Damned if it wasn't 2 does and a youngling. They never even flinched. Looked up at me and went right back to feeding. In fact, they got as fairly close, less than 50 yards (and don't cha know, they *know* that hunting season is closed). |
