Title: Love My Neighborhood... Post by barry_sword on Feb 10th, 2008, 10:27am We just got labeled with another foot of that beautiful fresh white stuff from the skies, plus that brown salt/sand mixture the plow just filled my driveway with. The bad part is I have been home all week with my back out so I cannot do my shoveling duties. Angie started to shovel when my next door neighbor Frank told her to stop. He is snow blowing it out right now for us. We have lived next to each other since 1993 and just wanted to say there are some really nice people out there, you just have to find them and Frank and his wife Tanya are two of the best people out there. To show our appreciation we just prepaid a dinner out for the two of them. We really love our neighborhood. [smiley=thumb.gif] |

Title: Re: Love My Neighborhood... Post by sandie99 on Feb 10th, 2008, 11:20am Good neighbours can really become great friends! :) I have godmother and godfather, who used to live next door to us for 4 years - they become family friends for lifetime. My best friend's family live next door to mom still and we visit each other many times each year, the last time was in January. Sanna |

Title: Re: Love My Neighborhood... Post by DennisM1045 on Feb 11th, 2008, 12:58pm Sorry to hear about the back Barry. Glad to see you have neighbors that care. It seems I'm always taking the snowblower over to bail out a neighbor. The guy across the street had surgery and his pregnant wife was trying to start up theirs. Couldn't have that. Then the guy next to me had his break down and way trying to shovel three feet of plow slush at the end of his driveway. Couldn't have that either. About five years ago we had a series of storms that left layers of ice under the yard. I have so many kids with cars that I have to clear the whole yard out to fit them. Anyway, it got so bad that the guy I had plowing got stuck on the ice, used a come-a-long to get out and then drove off. The next day a neighbor from down the street showed up with a front end loader. We used chains to drag the cars out of the snow and then he cleard the whole lot. Wouldn't take a dime for it either. It certainly makes the street nicer to live on. -Dennis- |

Title: Re: Love My Neighborhood... Post by Charlie on Feb 11th, 2008, 8:13pm You're a bunch of old fashioned nice people. Nice going kids. My neighbor and I shovel one another out now and then. I can't beat Jack, my 82 year-old neighbor though. He's the fastest one on the street. Charlie |

I can see it now Charlie. You shovel his walk, he shovels yours, and you greet each other on the way back to your own houses. 8) |

Title: Re: Love My Neighborhood... Post by Mosaicwench on Feb 13th, 2008, 8:55am We used to do that for our old lady next door neighbor at our first house. All the other neighbors thought she was a witch . . . so I helped her out. After I had my son we had a doozy of a storm and I couldn't very well leave my infant son alone inside the house while I shoveled so it had to wait until Brew got home. She cursed at me for not being"on time" to do her walk . . . . she WAS a witch!! |
