Title: Re: Happy New Year!!! Post by cash5542 on Feb 7th, 2008, 7:23pm Gung Hay Fat Choy!!! We have been preparing for several weeks in my art room preparing for today. Even my kindergarten kids can wish a happy new year in Chinese-Gung Hay Fat Choy! We paraded around our school today with their hand made beautiful dragons, streamers flowing and foil parts glowing. Oh what fun to be a little kid again! I would love to post pics but I'm afraid I might break some privacy right each student has. Much thanks to Charlotte and Tony for the night of brainstorming last month that led to my fun and success!! Charlotte |

Title: Re: Happy New Year!!! Post by DennisM1045 on Feb 8th, 2008, 8:01am When my son Casey was studying Kung-Fu he was also learning the lion dance. After a lot of practice they got good enough to perform at Chinese resturants for the holiday. We'd get together at the school and then travel to every resturant in town, perform for 10-15 minutes and then move on to the next one. The resturant owners would provide a head of cabbage with "money" in it that the lion would eat. If the lion ate the cabbage it meant good luck to the establishment for the next year. I miss that school and those times. I still have the videos though. -Dennis- |

I think thats the one the ends the New Year celebrations. 14 little Irish kids. Think they stood out? LOL They feel like they got invited to the Emporers Palace itself. |
