Post by Langa on Feb 3rd, 2008, 10:56am
I'm making chili and cheese baked potatoes, chips and dips, and some beers.

I don't like football (no daggers please, LOL), so i'll be stuffing my face while I watch Moonstruck or something.

Have fun all you football fans.

That explains it.  Got a bad batch of clams as a teenager and haven't been able to eat them in any form since.  Clams are banned from my house  [smiley=hurl.gif]

A GIANT pot of vegetarian chili (Pegg's recipe) plus cornbread, I believe.

Okay, two things:

1. We'll need to cut this recipe in half next time. You need a bathtub to cook this much of it.

2. Change ingredient list to "cayenne pepper to taste."

I like the heat, but Pat only likes a little heat. It's just starting to heat through in the bathtub, but it tastes great so far.

Note to self: Clean the bathtub thoroughly before next batch of chili.

Three things Brew.

3. ADD MEAT

Title: Re: What's on YOUR snack table for Superbowl?
Post by Redd on Feb 3rd, 2008, 1:34pm
Yes..my recipe makes just over 2 gallons of chili, so you'll have to adjust it by 1/2.   ;)

Once the steeping is over, the heat is tamed quite a bit.

And Chewy...it's not vegitarian chili if you add meat.   ;;D

Its not Chili without meat.

NOW you tell me. :o

That's okay - chili (or bean soup, depending on your perspective) freezes very well.

This house is smelling mahvelous.

Hmm... yummy stuff! :)

If we're going to stay up and watch Superbowl, we'll be having sour cream & onion chips with cheddar dip, meatballs, tuna-pineapple-balony pizza and pineapple pancake. The last 3 are home made, based on my recipes. ;)

Dennis, back in here pineapple is very common at pizzas, especially with ham or tuna, like we used it. We used balony also, because we happened to have lots of it - lots of Finns love balony pizza; this was the first time I made it at home. And yes, tuna is very common in pizzas as well.

Back in here the "usuals" what comes to pizza are "bolognese" meaning chopped meat, "hawaii" which is ham and pineapple (usually with extra blue cheese) and  ham-pinapple-tuna combo, which has different names in different places.

Sanna, I love pinapple + ham pizza.  We call that a Hawaiian Pizza here.  I can even see a Pizza with Tuna on it.  Why not.  It's just the combination that is throwing me for a loop.  The Balogna is just the topper  ;)

I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Tony, you are the first person I have known in my 48 years that likes anchovies!!!! :o Now as far as sitting down and eating them on their own might be a little much for me I do like them on a pizza though! So the only way I can get them is if I order my own custom pizza while the others share theirs. 8)

I don't really get what's so wrong about the pizza we had (did I mention that it also had garlic in it??? ;;D), but then again... I come from a nation in which some folks combine gingerbread men and blue cheese and I'm the only person who I know who loves cellery. ;;D

I forget the name of it but there is a type of bread/loaf made from dates that is EXCELLENT when eaten with very sharp and robust cheeses... (maybe someone knows the name)

and Sanna Sweetheart you can put bleu cheese on just about anything in my book and it will only enhance the taste...

but lo... Tony has cholesterol issues and is keeping his cheese consumption to an absolute minimum. :-/
