It's 16 degrees, was 29 at noon, it's snowing, sometimes sleeting and blowing like nuts.  Wind gusts up to 33mph.  I really hope Jesse is safe driving home tonight after 2nd shift!!

Here's the forecast for tonight and tomorrow:

Tonight: Periods of snow with widespread blowing snow before midnight, then widespread blowing snow after midnight. Low around -15. Wind chill values between -30 and -40. Northwest wind between 25 and 28 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of around 1 inch.

Wednesday: Patchy blowing snow before noon. Partly sunny and cold, with a high near -1. Wind chill values between -35 and -45. West wind between 15 and 22 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

I've been telling myself to suck it up, Buttercup, Mel......Portland Oregon is in the middle of the GREAT FREEZE OUT!
Days hover right around freezing, nights are much worse. Our beloved rain is arriving in this kinda semi-frozen state, either slush, ice or snow........we slip and slide on this crap, causing bodily harm and hurt pride as we land on it...........besides that, IT'S WICKED COLD!!!!!!!!

Sooo, Melly, I know your kinda cold winter trumps ours, butcha couldn't put it past me right now........

Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in a cross-country sun dance.................there is no such things as a Winter Wonderland >:(

Anywhooo, Melly,dear, go make a cuppa tea, fix some peanut butter playdough for the kids and hunker down. You really do have my sympathy............

5:30pm and -14 deg f in my part of MN.
Winds to 55 mph expecting lows in the minus 20s tonight with wind chills near 60 below zero.

Some dope whipped around our corner and ended up in my ditch - obviously not from around these parts. . . .I was dressed for shoveling so I walked over and taught him how to rock a front wheel drive vehicle out of a deep snowbank with a woman pushing his bumber.

Yes it does suck. Went into work today and it was foggy and 40 degrees. Just got home and it is windy as hell and -4.

Had to send it my way, didn't ya Potter?  It was 64 degrees yesterday morning at 6:30.  It was in the 30's and dropping by noon with winds up to 59 miles per hour.

Yesterday it started out beautiful with a record breaking 73 then the temp dropped way down in the afternoon  to 14 with high winds and tornado warnings.............good old midwest weather...........gonna get some snow tomorrow and friday.  :)

Wind kept me up all night, was cold as hell this morning.  Took a deep breath when I walked out, hacked and coughed all the way to the car.  Car was sllloooooooooowwwww to start.  Roads are sheer ice and hard packed snow (glad I've got some good Finnish tyres!).  My damned eyeballs even froze!

Well it is sunny here but cold. The wnid is cutting right through me every time I've gone out of the door so I'm giving that up as a bad hobby and I'm about to go and make a bloody great pot full of clotted cream rice pudding.

If you were here Paul I'd make you a nice bacon ciabatta sarnie to warm you up - never mind eh?!   :P

It's freakin COLD!!

George- Lily got a day off too, but poor girl still had to get up at the same time to go to the neighbors to watch their 5yr old all day.  I feel bad for her! :(

I am so frozen with this wisconsin weather.  I thought I was getting hit by a tornado last night the wind was wipping and making the house creek last night.  I spent 20 min. standing outside in 30 below zero temps trying to use a key to open the front door to my new house to let in people to fix some things.  I couldn't get the door open.  I think it froze shut.  Sucks.  I will have to go over in a day or so and see if I can open the door then and reschedule my contractors.  Boy is it ccccold  outside!! And to think that my beloved husband is in warm Dalas TX right now in a comfy plush hotel suite paid for by his boss, learning a new software package I am soo mad I didn't go along with him.

I made jambalaya last month, still have a gallon of it in the freezer, been eating about a gallon a week. ;)

Here is what I woke up to in Ohio today (1/29)...doesnt look like it, but temps near 0 with wind chills below -20...winds gusting to over 50mph...I guess I have some clean-up this week-end :'(

Here we go again!!! :-X More of the white stuff, the City of Toronto is getting nailed, we live two hours north of the city and are going to get about one foot of this snow here, but this storm is creating havoc on Toronto.

Man, it is nasty out!  Spent 20 min trying to reach the main road and had to turn back the sleet is so bad.  Drained a gallon of washer fluid trying to see and even the defrost only could thaw a post card size hole to see through after the fluid ran out.  The traction control for slippage never went out the whole time.  Abandoned hope for getting to work today.  Temps are dropping and weather is getting worse.

It snowed!!!  Right now I'm snowed in and can't go to work until all the plows clear the way.  I wouldn't go in at all, but I have to pick up paychecks for everyone.  

It sure is pretty outside right now.  ;)

The trip home is going to be a whole 'nuther story, I'm afraid.

They're talking about 30 cm. of snow here - with some freezing rain added in just for our driving pleasure.

Well, we got snow all day yesterday, and some freezing rain early last night.  The sanding trucks should have had plenty of time to get at it, though, so I'm hopeful that the main roads won't be too bad.

EJ says it's supposed to snow all weekend.  

I'm surprised that some profiteering sort hasn't brought in a semi-trailer full of snow shovels and started hawking them on the street corner for $100 bucks apiece.  I've got mine, but there isn't a snow shovel or a bag of ice-melt to be had anywhere in the Boise Valley.  

You have to understand, first of all, that Boise's in a fairly isolated location--more than 300 miles from the nearest major metropolitan area--so weird short-term shortages of stuff happen, and people take advantage of it.  

One home improvement outfit got 9 pallets of ice-melt the other day, and it was gone in a few hours--mostly bought up by speculators who turned around and resold it.  40 lb. bags that originally sold for $7.97 were turning up at other retail outlets for up to $22.50 a bag.

Good thing this kind of crap has been limited to snow shovels and ice melt.  In a state where you can spit in any direction and hit someone who's walking around strapped, a food speculator might have a very short lifespan.  ;)

We're supposed to get a whole lotta weather today - T storms and wind. There are about 100 robins in my front yard fueling up..makes me wonder if they know something we don't know. hmmm.
