Title: Another day in paradise . . . .
Post by Mosaicwench on Jan 22nd, 2008, 10:03am
We had somewhere between 8 inches and a foot of snow last night.  I woke up to a winter wonderland and had to share with all of you who don't know the joy of a winter snow storm.

All the "ladies" are wearing bouffant hair this morning.

The trees are wearing skirts . . .

And our compost pile looks like a loaf of bread . . . .

Off to rake my roof.

Find joy in your day.

Wow! Better you than us Pat. We had a light dusting and didn't need anymore than the broom to dig out with.

Be careful on the roof  ;)

Mummymac got it right - it's the joy of discovery, the sheer beauty of nature reminding one of who's in charge . . .

Yes, it can be a PITA to live here but today the beauty outshines the lesser evils of Wisconsin.

There is something incredibly beautiful about waking up to sunrise over a snow hushed landscape.  Birds in flight, and a blanket of snow that quiets the sounds of suburbia as the sun begins to cast an orangish glow over the world.

I used to get up when Andrea was a newborn and as I would sit in the rocking chair feeding her I would look out the bay window and watch the world emerge from it's quiet blanket of snow.

What an awesome outlook on life, find the joy in your day :)

Those Hallmark moments look much better on the cards than they do out my front door.

Fuckem da snowem.

It is kinda pretty, innit?

Even prettier considering I don't have to go out in it if I don't wanna.

Ya you betcha.  When I got up at six o'clock it was 1 degrees a foot of powder and a 40 mph breeze.  How quaint.

We got the same here, but after spending the last hour after work shoveling that salt/sand mixture the plow left me in my driveway took the beauty out of it for me. More coming for the next few days. :P

Not a big winter fan!! ;;D

Pictures are great, but I am getting sick of all of this white stuff.  I am ready for spring!

The snow may look pretty in a picture but that's about as close as I want to come to it.

That happens to me every year, 'cept the date comes earlier and earlier. I figure that by the time I'm ready to retire, it'll be happening around Oct. 1.

Yes, Brew, I think that it would then last until about, say, March or April of every year.  I haven't figured out how to paste the previous message into this one and then respond.

4 inches thus far here. That's the way I want the winter to end.

Woke up to another foot of the white stuff this morning. Roads are being closed due to this storm. More squalls and cold temps are on the way. :P

What! You live in the great white north and you don't own a snowblower/plow? I thought that was a law against that in Canada.

PS Great pics MW

40 mph a breeze? here in Wisconsin it's merely a waft, a whiff of air....

A snowblower would be nice, but this shoveling by hand keeps us in shape for biking. I say I do not like winter, but deep down, you know, it is not that bad.

WRONG!!! I would much rather be in shorts and biking right now. ;;D

Beautiful snow pictures, thank you for sharing them. :)

We got some snow on Sunday night, even more on Monday and right now there's a snowstorm going on all around the country.

On a day like this one, I feel gratitude that we do not have a garden, yard nor driveway, so it can snow freely and no snow works for us.

I hate the cold much more than the snow, because this city finally looks pretty and the days are so much more lighter. It makes all the difference. :)
