She will be having the ONSI trial placed in her head. Let's keep her in our thoughts and prayers for success and many pain free days ahead! Charlotte She posted this last week, Jan 18. Small Update: I got a call from the hospital today, and I have to be there at 9:15am on Monday morning. So we're all set for the trial procedure |

And thanks for the well-wishes, Brew! :) Here's what I said on the other thread: I worked my 6th day of the week today and now I'm officially done and nothing stands between me and tomorrow. Well, I'm about to eat dinner since I can't eat anything after midnight, and then I'm going to get my shower and straighten my hair tonight. Because I can't wash my hair or get a real shower for the next 5 days, I've got to straighten it so it doesn't look like hell. I'm sure it will look like hell anyway if they are shaving some of it off! heh... No more ponytails for Carrie! I'm really excited, and nervous.....and it's making me feel jumpy. I just want to get it done with now. This isn't even the big big part as that comes after the stimulator is in place. I'll try to post as soon as I can about how it's going - and I'm going to get my mom to take some pictures tomorrow, too - so I can show everyone what the trial stim looks like. I know that with the trial stim, I'm going to have all kinds of wires going out of my head, and that makes me a little nervous for going to work on Wednesday. I don't want anything to interfere with my job as a neonatal nurse. But worse, can you imagine if one of those babies got ahold of a wire and yanked?? Yeow... That wouldn't be good! But we'll just have to see what this thing looks like once I get it tomorrow!! For those of you who sent PMs, thank you!! Hugz, Carrie |

Hurt like hell when they were putting the pins in the back of my head, but I asked for a little more pain medicine before they did the pin above my right eye, and that helped! They gave me some pain meds to take for the post-procedure pain, and I've taken them a couple of times, but I don't think I will need them after today really. It's just sore where they put it in, but the headaches actually feel pretty good right now! I realize that my constant migraine may be a bit masked by the pain meds and also the anesthesia, but I felt an instant change when the stimulator was in place and turned on. This is really exciting for me! Haven't had any CH hits today, so that's exciting too! I think I will know more over the next few days. I have a couple of pictures to post, and I'll write more tomorrow! I have a meeting to go to in the morning, then a neuro appt and another appt, and then I'll be home to rest. If you don't hear from me, no worries - I am still pretty darn tired from the procedure! Thanks for all the well wishes! I know they helped make everything a success!! My mom and I collect these angels, I think they are called Willow Tree, and this year at Christmas, she gave me the one for "Courage". I never really think of myself as particularly brave, but thank you for saying that! Made my day! Charlotte - Thanks so much for your kind words as well! Thank you for starting this thread and for being there for me through all of this the past few weeks. I really appreciate all you've done to try to get me in touch with Matt and to help me in any way possible. It's so kind of you! Head is sore today, but headaches feel good. I am playing around with the stim a bit to try to see if it's working or if my headaches still aren't that bad yet after the anesthesia. No CH hits yet!! So that's good at least! I haven't taken any pain medication since last night, and I don't plan to - I dont' want it to cover up the headache since I need to see if the stimulator is truly working. Will post more later!!
