Title: How fucked up is this?, protect your kids! Post by Jonny on Jan 16th, 2008, 9:44pm In an effort to help Sen. Larry Craig, the American Civil Liberties Union is arguing that people who have sex in public bathrooms have an expectation of privacy. If I walk into a restroom with my grandson and some guy is sucking another guy off in a stall, I will beat him one inch to death!! http://www.rawstory.com/news/mochila/ACLU_Sex_in_restroom_stalls_is_priv_01152008.html Heres my question....do you think the ACLU is looking out for YOU? |

Title: Re: How fucked up is this?, protect your kids! Post by Ray on Jan 17th, 2008, 12:12am Do I think the ACLU is looking out for me? NO! They are champions of screwed up causes -- and making it tougher to prosecute sicko's and wacko's all in the name of civil liberties. Ray |

I dunno...call me crazy...but isn't civil liberties one of the things that make this country great? Since I haven't read the ACLU's actual position, I would have to say it's more a constitutional issue that people who want to use public restroom have a reasonable expectation of not walking in on people having sex. That sting was plain stupid and a waste of money and resources, though. I'm sure there are worse crimes happening in Minneapolis that need attention. ::) |

Title: Re: How fucked up is this?, protect your kids! Post by Charlie on Jan 17th, 2008, 12:32am The ACLU does a lot more good than harm. I'm not bothered about the gay-bashing Senator's proclivities but I don't get WTF someone like him thinks that an airport stall is a cool place to get his oil changed. Jerk off or something. Title: Re: How fucked up is this?, protect your kids! Post by BarbaraD on Jan 17th, 2008, 4:53am The ACLU probably started off with some good ideas, but like all other good things - it got carried away on "offbeat" causes and now is out in left field. Sex in a public bathroom? Get a room!!! That's infringing on MY civil liberties! They need to get back to some COMMON SENSE! Hugs BD |

Title: Re: How fucked up is this?, protect your kids! Post by outofcommission on Jan 17th, 2008, 5:43am i drive a truck coast to coast and spend alot if time by myself. i see guys rolling down the interstate, sitting in there cars with there dicks hanging out. i have had guys roll up on me in a dark parking lot doing the same shit. what larry graig did fits into that category. this is the kind of stuff i see 1000 miles away from home and totally alone at 2 a.m. if i am pinching off a loaf in a public restroom and someone sticks his foot over in my stall and starts tapping, he is invading my right to privacy. i am just a guy out here trying to earn a living. i don't bother anybody. what about my fuckin rights!!!! out there on my own the only people looking out for me are Smith and Wesson. |

Title: Re: How fucked up is this?, protect your kids! Post by outofcommission on Jan 17th, 2008, 5:51am also think about this, let say for shits and giggles it was a coed restroom. and he was tapping his foot in a ladies stall. would anybody be sticking up for his rights then? |

Title: Re: How fucked up is this?, protect your kids! Post by artonio7 on Jan 17th, 2008, 7:13am Lewd sexual conduct in a public place is not a gay issue... It's a people issue. Fighting for someone's rights to break the law in a public space is imho just plain stupid. If I were a grandfather and encountered that same scene in a public restroom with a grandchild... I probably would want to kick the shit out of the idiots as well. We seem to live in a society fraught with double standards. On one hand we hold onto a puritanical values and on the other hand we reward companies who sell their products with sex and violence. I cringe at the thought of how a parent may feel after seeing their young daughters on the "Girls Gone Wild" commercials In case you may have missed them they were broadcast every 15 minutes for a while. It seems to be promoting the sort of activity that I'd not encourage a daughter or niece to participate in. One may argue that I simply have to change the channel and not watch those commercials. I would agree... It used to be in our society that the mention of the "D" word (Damn) would ruffle the feathers of more than a few. "Frankly Scarlette I don't give a damn." in Gone With the Wind was a phrase that actually drew attention for being too off color. Now a day we think it cute when old ladies tell someone to go fuck them selves... and not to be a prude nor a sensor but... we seem to be promoting less than polite behavior. We tolerate and tolerate and tolerate... and each time time we do we give a silent endorsement to the behavior. Just because we have a constitutional right to free speech does not make it acceptable to say anything we want at any given time. Removing the defenders of our civil liberties is not an option... reenforcing acceptable behavior within a range of good common sense is our right, privilege and one might add duty It's no wonder that people aren't fighting for their right to have an orgy on the salad bar at the Ponderosa restaurant. We are all teachers and we don't have much room to complain when things get out of hand if we endorse the behavior to begin with. Just my opinion. with warm regards, Tony |

Title: Re: How fucked up is this?, protect your kids! Post by rickyshot on Jan 17th, 2008, 8:16am Freedom is not license. People get things mixed up. We live in a multicultural society, with all kinds of people with many different beliefs. With that in mind you have to run a society that is safe for all. Public places are not suitable for many kind of behaviors. Yes we have to draw the line sometime and imo we have passed the line of decency of safe behavior a long time ago in the name of civil liberties. Laws are guidelines for a well cohesive society and subject to change as we know better. The letter of the law kills but the guidelines are there. That is why we have judges to review the "crimes" case by case basis interpreting the law to the best of their knowlege. In this case homeboy needs to rent a room. The publice bathroom is no place for sexual conduct. I am with Johnny on this one. If I walked in someone jacking off in the bathroom and had my grandkids with me, homeboy gonna get a lick in his head. And the ACLU can defend my civil right to go upside his head haha. SEriously I was walking with my kids down the sidewalk years ago when they were very young and this broad was giving head to a guy in a car parked on the road and you could see everything. Lucky for me I had a nice cup of soda in my hand and threw it in the window at the couple and curse them out stink. I told them I was gonna call the cops. They took off. I mean some people have no clue how to behave in public. If we as citizens can make a citizen arrest, how about we give them some justice along the way. OK that is a joke sorta. I am half serious about this one. Could you imagine our society then> lol |

Title: Re: How fucked up is this?, protect your kids! Post by George_J on Jan 17th, 2008, 12:20pm Well said, Tony. ACLU aside, I think Larry's legal antics pretty much boil down to him wanting to keep his Senate position until the end of his term, in November of this year. I'm guessing that he's hoping the potty controversy will get neutralized one way or another, and die down to the point where he can land a fat lobbyist's job after he's out of the Senate. Sorry about the toe-tappin' Senator from Idaho--I've done my best to vote him out of office over the past twenty or so years, but it seems that most of my fellow Idahodians did not agree with me. Right now, I don't think he'd win an election for dogcatcher. Best, George |

excellent point tony. i don't think it's a choice to be gay. i think people are born that way. but being a creep in a public bathroom is a choice. it's also scary. if he's got the mental capacity (or lack thereof ) to do something like that, what else is this crazy fucker willing to do. |

Title: Re: How fucked up is this?, protect your kids! Post by Callico on Jan 25th, 2008, 1:30pm Tony, you were right on the mark with this one. It is not a Gay, Straight, or any other kind of issue. It is a matter of decency and expectation of privacy for the PUBLIC. It is the same as the free speech argument that you have the freedom to speak, but you don't have the right to yell FIRE in a theatre. The laws were set up for the defense of the public not the individual. I do think though that the media has gone way overboard on this one. We didn't hear nearly as much about Barney Frank and his lover's prostitution ring that he ran out of the Congressman's apartment. That is NOT in defense of Craig. He needs to go, and should have when the story first broke. It just needs to be even-handed. Jerry |

Title: Re: How fucked up is this?, protect your kids! Post by sandie99 on Jan 25th, 2008, 1:43pm What comes to protecting kids, back in here, last week one of our daily newspapers had an web appeal to get new, stricker laws to protect kids from sexual predators. Within that week it got more than 110 000 names! Sanna |

Title: Re: How fucked up is this?, protect your kids! Post by Teresa on Jan 25th, 2008, 2:43pm As a youth...I feel it important to put my opinion in here... I believe the media in general puts FAR too much emphasis on sex in today's society. Though I realize this issue is important, as the senator should be a role model for youngsters, I think stories like these are over reported.... Okay, so a senator did something completely inappropriate and illegal (or at least it should be), but we don't need to hear about it every single day. Why not report about GOOD things that are happening around the world...they can't be THAT hard to find! And as to those Girls Gone Wild commercials...what ever happened to the "Virgin...it's not a dirty word" commercials. If there is anytime that they should be around...now is the time. At 21 years old, I feel there are not many more like me left. I have no problems with sex, and do not judge other people for their decisions...but I think todays youth NEEDS to know that sex is NOT required in a young relationship...that Britney Spears is not someone to emulate...that saying no to sex is an okay choice too. I don't know how many times I've had friends of mine (a lot of times younger) come up to me and say they wished they'd waited...at least a little longer. Unfortunately, I don't think any blame can be place on anyone but themselves, but there is definitely a lot of influence in the media. Let's report about the GOOD role models for young people...like Mylie Cyrus, or Hilary Duff...girls that haven't gone off the wire...instead of the Britneys and the Lindseys and the Paris'. Protecting civil liberties is important...they are what make our country so great...but, in a case like this, the ACLU needs to look at whose civil liberties were threatened...the public's...not this senator's. Just a little input from a 21 year old young woman who is right there with all of you in your opinions... |

It just doesn't sell...unfortunately !!! If you watch our news, you would think The USA is a horrible place to live. Quite the contrary, there are many good people here (look at this very site) doing good things for others. Cheers, Dave |
