Title: Man..I am good looking when I wake up or what?? Post by 65fstbk on Jan 15th, 2008, 4:30pm Guess I have to try and keep my sense of humor up...I am one ugly SOB when I wake up with a HA... [smiley=slowlaugh.gif] . I figured since me and the beast spent the better part of the night taking a walk and getting re-acquainted, I might be able to sneak a few winks past him this after-noon...ahhh...but he is good...he caught me and demanded another walk. Before I laced up the walking shoes, I grabbed the camera and tried to get a pic of me and him together....here we are...I think we make a great looking pair ::) . http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q30/51custom/snow12-07003.jpg . . . . I must of not been very good company, because after a few miles and 45 minutes into the trip, he must have decided to go another route because he was suddenly gone!I figure I will meet up with him tonight..We do our best walking when its dark outside.. . Seriously...I know better than to think I could get away with an afternoon nap, but last night was a rough one, and I decided to stay home from work..lack of sleep kinda makes me grumpy...lol. No wonder my wife is getting aggravated with me...Im interrupting her sleep....and if this is what she has to look at when I wake her up..Its not a pretty sight...No wonder i aint getting it like I used to...lol [smiley=oops.gif] (this is my first attempt at posting a pic on this site...if it doesn't work, I may have to ask one of you for help) . Hope everyones day is PF . Joe |

Title: Re: Man..I am good looking when I wake up or what? Post by LeLimey on Jan 15th, 2008, 4:58pm Joe have you ever tried sleeping sitting propped upin a recliner or something? A lot of people find that helps a bit. Get your wife to come a long and sign up too, there's as much help, advice and support here for her as for you. Supporters are worth their weight in gold and we do our damndest to look after them and show them how much we appreciate them here. :) what meds are you using? Have you tried O2? Lets see if we can't brainstorm and come up with some suggestions that will help! Helen |

I know that droopy-eye look in the mirror, only mine's on the other side. Damn, I hate seeing that on another person.... :-/ Take care of yourself, okay? Best wishes, George |

Title: Re: Man..I am good looking when I wake up or what? Post by Charlie on Jan 15th, 2008, 10:08pm Oh boy. I've been there. Sorry you have to deal with this horror. The thing about this board is that there is no one that doesn't understand that image. It was stunning to find so many afflicted with this thing. Sleeping in a recliner can help. It certainly did for me. Here is a technique that I used very successfully: Dr. Wright’s Circulatory Technique: I am not sure what mechanism is triggered by this but whatever it is, at least indirectly helps kill the pain. I do know that this technique has nothing to do with meditation, relaxation, or psychic ability. It is entirely physical and takes some work. It involves concentrating on trying to redirect a little circulation to the arms, hands, or legs. Think of feeling your pulse in your hand. Increased circulation will result in a reddening and warming of the hands. The important and difficult part is that it has to be done without interruption through the pain. Do not give up in frustration. It may not work on the first try. Try experimenting between attacks. You will find that it gets easier with practice. Every now and then it will work almost immediately. I lived for those moments. I was given less than five minutes instruction in the use of method. The doctor, while placing his arm on his desk, showed me that he could slightly increase his arm and hand circulation. After several attempts, I was able to repeat this procedure and use it successfully. I have had about a 75% success rate shortening these attacks. My 20 minute attacks were often reduced to 10 minutes or less. Once proven that I had a chance to effectively deal with this horror, I always gave it a try as I had nothing to lose but pain. I used to try to imagine I was pushing blood away from my neck into my arm. Use your imagination. There is one man who wrote that his standing barefoot on a concrete floor shortened his attacks. This may be similar as it draws some circulation away from the head. Cold water, exercise, or anything affecting circulation, seems to be worth a try. My suggestion is to not let up immediately when the pain goes. Waiting a minute is probably a good idea. So long as you do not slack off, this has a chance of working. This technique is very useful while waiting for medication to take effect or when none is available. It costs nothing, is non-invasive, and can be used just about anywhere. It is not a miracle but it helped me deal with this horror. It can be a bit exhausting but the success rate was good enough for me and a cluster headache sufferer will do just about anything to end the pain. It gives us a fighting chance. Charlie |

Title: Re: Man..I am good looking when I wake up or what? Post by 65fstbk on Jan 16th, 2008, 1:01pm Hey...Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I know I am a day late posting, but for some reason firefox wont open this site...I switched to IE this morning and here I am...Things are loading slow, but its either my computer, or IE . To answer a few remarks...hmm..not sure how to quote on here..so Ill do it the "old" way..lol... From Helen: Joe have you ever tried sleeping sitting propped upin a recliner or something? A lot of people find that helps a bit. Get your wife to come a long and sign up too, there's as much help, advice and support here for her as for you." . Try the recliner this morning (another rough one last nite) and was able to grab an hour of sleep...didnt want to push my luck..Ill try and sneak another hour in later...thnx for the tip! And the part about the wife...Not gonna happen...she wont even read an e-mail her MOTHER sends her.(I have to print it off) Her Mom is 78, but my wife is "too old" and refuses to even turn on a computer...and by the way Helen..even though I have read we have to keep the guns, knifes and light sabres away from you,(havent read enough to know why, but Ill find out)your definately not the witch you try to make yourself out to be [smiley=thumb.gif]...I just wish I understood "British" language...lol...Keep that great sense of humor . And...come on Jonny.. "Damn!, you is ugly!!! LOL Hang in there Joe. " . I was gonna say nice things about your ink, but thats gonna have to wait now. [smiley=moonwiggle.gif] ..Just kidding of course. I seen some pics of you at some of the past get-togethers, and it appears you like your ink..I cant tell what all of them are, but what I can see looks good. [smiley=headbanger.gif] . And "George" and "Brewcrew"... That pic wasnt taken in the mirror...I just held the camera in front of me and snapped. Its my right eye that has the leaking problem. [smiley=confused2.gif] . And Charlie... . I acually tried that method this morning (about 5am)...well...kinda...my paitients are a bit thin when Im in cycle...lol...somehow I just didnt think I was "pushing" any blood from my head, so I tried step 2 and sat my ass in a metal folding chair in the garage while barefoot...I live in Northern Ohio, and the temp was near single digits last night...figured between my ass and my feet, maybe I can drain about 3 quarts from my head...lol...It might of helped, as the attack was pretty short, but at 8am I got hit hard (rebound maybe?) Definatly gonna keep it in mind..like you said, what have I got to lose? . And kimh... Thanks for the offer...If screaming into my plain old bath towel doesnt work, Ill hop in the car and take a drive and take you up on that!..Kidding of course..cant drive while in pain...would have to call a cab.lol...and the last part . "I feel pretty, oh so pretty" . maybe you should change your name to Maria? ;) (Im an old fart...I know my West Side Story ;;D ) . One more thing...Im not as new as my profile shows..I registered in 2000 under the name joe_w but some time ago I forgot my password and have different e-mail (so I cant get it sent to me) so last year I just rejoined using this name (I have a '65 mustang fastback and am active on a vintage mustang forum...I now use that name on all sites...lol)..Im not much of a talker as you can tell by my post count...but when I do, watch out! [smiley=JAW_DROP.gif] . again...thnx all..PFD to ya! Joe |

Title: Re: Man..I am good looking when I wake up or what? Post by Tiannia on Jan 16th, 2008, 7:37pm Hun you will do just fine here. We have all been there, either are a dance partner of the SOB that climbed inside my head or being the wall flower( in my case my husband and kids) and hoping that you can help the person dancing. My husband is very computer literate, but wont come here. I was doing good to get him to agree that he will go to a convention with me if one ever gets up to the Northwest. I am sorry that you are fighting it right now. I wish I had advice, I dont. All I can tell you is that you are still here each and every dance, each and every fight, day and night and the bastard will not win. You will Peaceful and Painfree Blessings Tiannia |
