Title: Surgery on Wednesday - Prayers Please Post by Ray on Jan 15th, 2008, 4:50am Hello fellow Clustervillains: I’ve been having nausea and pain from my gallbladder for a few months now. Since Christmas, I’ve been to the ER 4 times with pain. I’m having it taken out on Wednesday. Although the time of the surgery is to be announced, I would appreciate it if you could pray and/or send warm fuzzy thoughts my way. This surgery is done some 500,000 times per year in the US, and should be no big deal. However, I don’t have the “faith” in doctors that I once had. Cluster Headaches and their treatment have removed most of my “faith” in them. Thank you all for your best wishes and prayers, Ray |

Title: Re: Surgery on Wednesday - Prayers Please Post by Grandma_Sweet_Boy on Jan 15th, 2008, 5:36am Ray - you'll feel so much better once it's done. No more of those gut wrenching attacks! Both my daughters and my mate have had theirs out and it's a fairly simple procedure. It's day surgery here -go in in the morning and home before dinner time. Wishing you loads of good luck - let us know how you make out. Carol |

Title: Re: Surgery on Wednesday - Prayers Please Post by Annette on Jan 15th, 2008, 9:54am Its a very easy safe quick key hole surgery Ray. No big deal ! I could have done it for you ;) You will feel so much better afterwards, no more pain, no more nausea and you will be able to eat well again, although you need to steer clear of fatty food. Do the doctors there give the patients the gallstones in a jar for a souvenir? :) Sending vibes and prayers and a great big hug. :-* |

Title: Re: Surgery on Wednesday - Prayers Please Post by DennisM1045 on Jan 15th, 2008, 12:17pm Hi Ray, This surgery may be done 500,000 times a year but this is the first time it's being done to you. I think a little anxiety is normal. Relax and let the Drs and (more importantly) the nurses take care of you. In the mean time I'm making deposits in the VIBE bank with your name on then ;;D Should the need arise for you to make a widthdrawl. Good luck my friend. -Dennis- |

Ditto this!! Had mine out in 2000 when I was 25 (I think, lol). You'll be fine! ;;D BTW, when I had my attack, it felt like my lungs had collapsed and I drove myself to the ER because my dear, darling idiot of a husband would rather sleep (long story). ::) Anyway, turns out I had a gallstone the size of a grapefruit! No wonder it hurt so bad! They sent me home that night after the attack had passed and I was scheduled to have it out the next morning. General anesthesia, 3 small incisions and I was home within a couple hours after the procedure. Never felt better! |

Title: Re: Surgery on Wednesday - Prayers Please Post by artonio7 on Jan 16th, 2008, 5:54pm Update on Ray... The surgery was successful! He is home recovering and has some discomfort which is to be expected. One tiny little complication during the procedure... they nicked a small vein (artery) near the liver and had to quickly cauterize it. Aside from that it just hurts. He give his warm hellos to all and wants you all to know he loves you and will be posting ASAP. with warm regards, Tony |

Title: Re: Surgery on Wednesday - Prayers Please Post by Ray on Jan 16th, 2008, 9:07pm Hello Cluster Buddies: I made it home about 4PM today and I'm doing ok. It isn't terribly painful, just uncomfortable. I am really touched by your responses and I really do love you guys. I'm taking it easy and going to bed early. The family is making me feel like a king and are taking good care of me. Percocet is taking the edge off and I'm trying to be a good patient or Shade will knock some sense into me, as she is like that. That's all the news that's fit to type, and again, thanks to you kind and good folks for the prayers, warm fuzzies, and best wishes. Love ya! Ray |

Title: Re: Surgery on Wednesday - Prayers Please Post by Ray on Jan 17th, 2008, 10:49am Hello folks: I'm resting up around the house and generally feeling ok. It's nice not being nauseated all the time. As a side note, I spoke to the surgeon before the operation and asked that an Imitrex injection be standing by in the recovery room. This was taken seriously and the staff seemed to know about CH and was a real comfort! Luckily for me, I did NOT need the shot, but was a comfort to me and my wife, for me. When I was out of surgery and the doctor was providing details to Shade, he made it a point to say that I was NOT having any CH problems. I would not hesitate to recommend this surgeon or hospital if a clusterhead were to need their services. I love you guys and am glad to be a part of this family, Ray |
