Title: a big one..
Post by Peppermint on Jan 14th, 2008, 1:07pm
So, I've been pretty much busting my ass at this job since August.  That's the short of it.

I got this in a piece of my email today...

9. When you  make the biggest mistake ever, something  good comes from it.

This is the one time I HOPE there is a kernel of truth in those chain emails.  It's not fun when you're part of a major muck-up at work.

[smiley=bigcry.gif]

"It wasn't my fault" sounds so lame!!!

Pep

When things are "mucking" ya hope that the busting of the hump is duly noticed and appreciated.

Fingers crossed for you!

Hard work is rewarded somehow in the universe.

You're doing great!

Kimberly

WE LOVE YOU!!!
(that's one hug from each one of us that's stuck here in this house while it is snowing like crazy)

Patty you are ALWAYS a professional and work very hard. I have no idea what happened, but i doubt it was your fault.

If ya need to talk I'm home all day (see above)

Even when it IS your fault (and I'm certainly not saying it is in this case, Pep), nothing good can come of not fessing up.

Just a lesson for anybody who reads this thread. Whatever bad that's going to come from a goof, it is only made worse by trying to cover it up.

Hang in there, Pep. Maybe you should come to DavCon and get a good dose of ClusterLove. Last count there's going to be 50 of us there.

Just to be clear... I did fuck up ... but I only take 40% of the blame.  I was not alone.

Thing is, before I was able to get to boss and talk to him about it, he caught it and thinks I tried to cover up.  I NEVER EVER do that.  It's dumb.

It's gotten to the point where I am doing an EverYman's job and have thought many times about quitting.  I won't even TELL you what I was asked to do last week.  Seriously.  Never in a million year.  If I wanted to do housekeeping, I'd have worked in a damned hotel, though I will say, there was clear guilt/remose from the big guy on that.  But.. too late, its done!

I do need some ClusterLovin'...I keep thinking about it.  I just don't think I can swing all the costs right now.

This was my bonus before:
BONUS

This just might be my bonus now... bonus

Shrink, bonus, shrink.

Well hon, if you have no qualms about admitting your part in the muck up and knowing you're a good person who deserves good things, then I promise you life will take good care of you. :-*

Aw Pep - I'm so sorry you have to go through this. :(

It's hard juggling everything and everyone and never drop a ball.  No one is perfect and everyone drops a ball now and then.  I'm sure this is an isolated incident and if you let yourself be human (and bossman recognizes it), it'll fade away quicker.

Keep your chin up dear.

Dag Pepa, you're really stressing this huh?

Well, it couldn't have been that bad if you still have the job right...but what's up with someone sending you to clean their place????  They're lucky that wasn't me...I would've asked if they wanted their ass wiped too.  Girl, I got fired once for telling my boss to shove her pantyhose up her butt...she sent me to get her a pair and i bought the wrong ones.  Luckily, I got a job 2 months later making 20 grand more...!

I'm sure your boss knows your character girl...don't sweat it.

Love ya,
Maria

Hey Pep,

Anyone that works too hard is bound to f'up once in a while.  Just ride it out hun.

On the other hand, if your boss can't see the value you represent then its probably time to find another.  Maybe this is a good thing.

Fucking up promotes growth. Take it as an opportunity to learn and move on.
...anyhow.... I've missed you.

with warm regards,
Tony

I love yous and miss yous too.. I'm a mouse on a treadmill.

Sorry Rory, just too crazy to make phone calls.  Now my daughter's home sick with 102 fever and I'm at work.   [smiley=bomb.gif]
This is the part that kills me the most.  I don't know if I can continue this much longer, except that our survival has been this job.. but everything else takes a beating.

It's good to hear what you have to say, because it makes it easier to think that staying in NY is not the end all/be all.  Sometimes I just want to run away...

back to the grind,
Pep

Look at most of the rest of us, hon - OUR survival has been due to other jobs. We're gettin' by. Wouldn't it be nice to think of something other than mere survival?

We all sell our sunshine to buy the things we need. What we get in return is what we call "life." We all want for you to enjoy what you get in return.
