Title: BuckKnives.com
Post by Melissa on Jan 14th, 2008, 10:48am
Don't know who remembers when I posted about ordering Jesse a custom Buck Knife for our 10th anniversary this Jan. 30th, but I have to tell you something.

I ordered it on Dec. 7th, which I thought was enough time for it to be made and delivered before our anniversary.  I wrote today to find out if it had been shipped yet and this is the response I got...

Quote:
Dear Melissa,

The order was placed on Dec 7th and it takes 4-6 weeks for a custom knife to be built. The due date is around Jan 26th.

Richard likes to take his time to make sure that ALL custom knives are built to the highest quality possible.

As soon as the order ships you will receive an e-mail letting you know it’s on it’s way. At that time your credit card will be charged as well.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Thanks so much!!

After sitting here here in tears for a bit, I then wrote this back...

Quote:
Dear Pete,

Thanks for the quick reply.  I was hoping that I had ordered it early enough as mine and my husband's 10th anniversary is January 30th, and that is when I wanted to give it to him.  I can see now that I probably won't be able to.

Thanks anyway for your response.

Sincerely,

Melissa

well wouldn't you know it, this is what I got back!!! :D

Dear Melissa,

I am sorry about the misunderstanding. Now that I know it’s an anniversary gift I will make sure your order is completed BEFORE it’s due. I will also bump up the shipping to ups 3-day at no charge to make sure it gets there in time. Richard is a very good friend of mine and when I tell him what it’s for he will get right on this and make sure it’s perfect. Again I am so sorry about that. We will make sure it’s completed so you can present him with this.

From all of us here at Buck Knives, Inc.  Happy Anniversary!!

Can you believe it???  There IS a company out there that cares!!!  I wrote him back thanking him up and down and said I'd let all my friends and family know what a great company this is.  So I'm doing it now!

That's lovely  ;;D

You know what? If ever I want a knife (and please don't let me buy one now LOL) I will definitely order via them. What a refreshing story of customer service in this day and age of "give us your money and STFU"!!

Thank you for sharing it, nice stories always make us all smile

That's nice to know.  I do have a custom knife from them.  If he uses a knife, rest assured it will be a great one.  Nice to know they care about their customers as well as the quality of thier products.

Anyone else find this disturbing?  Every Quentin Tarantino film I've seen just keeps playing in my head.....

Seriously, Mel--that's really impressive customer service.  If I ever decide to get a custom knife, Buck Knives will certainly be the first place on my list.

Best,

George

There are still some great company's out there that sell sevice not just take the $ and make you wait. Great that they are one of them and so glad you will get it in time. I always call or write a company that gives me a great service and always give the name of the person that helped me too. Terry

Now you know the major reason they are such a strong company when so many of the other famous names are either out of business, or have been bought out by overseas companies and don't do custom work anymore.

Buck Knives is a great company.  Appreciate you sharing your experience with them here.

Jerry
