Title: Thats it, I'm done with it !!! Post by Groov on Jan 12th, 2008, 6:56pm Got my office workstation here at the house completely cleared of all tobacco crap. No ashtrays, no pipe tobacco, no roller. I quit cigs after 30 years of careless abuse. First 3 weeks I cheated by smoking 1 or 2 a day. Said to myself that that aint quittin' !!!! Either you quit or you didn't, don't play the "definition of is" game. So here is the gauntlet thrown down upon myself. If anyone here catches me smoking or talking about having "just one" you better call me a loser or weakling if you are a friend ;) Dont wish me luck, I wont fail. Cheers, Dave |

I quit in 2005 after 30 some years too...it isn't easy. I tried about half a dozen times and chickened out but not this last time. Never cheated once because I knew if I did, I'd be right back to 1-1/2 packs a day. I loved to smoke.........I guess we all do or did. Be strong, stay away from the things and places where your habit was really routine......like that first cup of coffee in the am, or right after a meal. Drink something else for awhile....tea, juice, whatever. Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS!! |

I just don't have the severe cravings. However, I will finish these step-3 patches like I am supposed to. I'm at the point where if I smoked one, it wouldn't satisfy. It's just the hands wanting to repeat a long standing habit of breaking up, rolling & lighting. I seriously don't have any more urge for it...just a matter of keeping hands busy learning new and better habits. My boy promises to humiliate me if I even look like I'm doin' wrong. That works well for me :) I would ask Helen to help, but she already has a plethora of unrelated insults at the ready....I dont want to throw off her mojo [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=laugh.gif] It actually was a certain person here who inspired me to get off my pathetic excuses and complete this task. I am forever grateful to him as well as the many others here who has selflessly done so much for me. Cheers, Dave |

The first 3 days of any addiction is withdrawing from the substance then you are right, it's psychological addiction. You CAN do this because you WANT to. Keep it up and let me know if I can help.
