I saw nothing new there, at least, to what I know.

Thank you Ray . Interesting . It would seem that they need volunteers to stay in hospital beds so they can be scanned quickly as CH begins . I'd like to volunteer myself . If you find any followups looking for people , I'd be willing to go in for say 2-3 months . They'd get to see 4-8 daily . Maybe it could help somebody .  Thanks Ray ...... I'm serious about volunteering.........because out here it's all self reported ; I'd love to share pictures and pain with them .                phil h 8)

Migraine and cluster headache - more alike than you thought!!  Hypothalamic activation in migrane as well.

I also liked this quote:

Quote:
"It's easy to think that migraine is a specific brain disorder, but it is a series of systems that go wrong - a system disorder.

I think that is true CH of as well.  From heart issues to overcoagulation to immune activation, there are many things that feed into CH.  It isn't just a broken hypothalamus.

And?

They're both painful, they both occur in the head, and they both what? Make you sound more intelligent than you are?

Please explain it to me.

Yeah, I was editing my post while you posted.  For the first time, migraine attacks are shown to be associated with hypothalamic activation. That is big news.  Previously, a lot was written about waves of depolarization that flow across parts of the brain cortex with migraine.  And provoked headaches in migraineurs didn't involve the hypothalamus, but spontaneous ones did.

And I posted before you edited.

Why not just make another post? You added significant content - it wasn't just a spelling correction.

Hidden agenda? I know I'll be watching.

Yes, you hit the post button before I was finished with my edits and I hit the save button. Big deal.

Hidden agenda?  No, I was merely discussing the article. I changed my post. Then I saw your post, and I pointed out that I had just made a change, which actually justifies your original comment that you didn't understand what I wrote.

Your the one who is overtly hostile and originally changed the discussion from one about cluster headaches to one about my motives.  Suit yourself - watch away!  May the watching bring you joy.

Next they will find out that I sweat a lot due to a distinct area within the hypothalmus ;)

Interesting though.

Interesting article, butr as Melissa said, I don't find anything new for us here.  It might be a break for the meegrainers though.

I did think it interesting that use of migraine drugs for CH might be related to the hypothalmic connection.

If more research for migraine is directed to the hypothalamus, it may inadvertantly stumble upon something for us.

Hello everybody:

Since migraine is a much more common condition than CH, I hope that the finding discussed in that article will produce more research and eventually produce medications or therapies that will help us as well.

Hey I can hope, right?

Wishing you all a Pain Free New Year!

Ray
