Title: Had the ultrasound today...
Post by Melissa on Dec 31st, 2007, 1:58pm
and Ava is measuring right on time.  She's not big, actually, she's perfect.  There is just one little, tiny problem...  She's jacknifed, LOL!  Her butt is where her head should be, and I had a feeling that is how she's been for the past 2 months now since I only felt her kicks and punches on my right side in the middle.  It's also the reason why I've been having so many breathing problems as her head and shoulders are right under my ribs.

No clue if she'll turn or not, but we're pretty sure I'll need a c-section, which is fine.  I'm OK with that. :)

Here's a pic of some of her face that show the lips, nose and cheeks....

Ya know, at first we were trying to figure out if her nose was swollen or squished, but then we saw that the way the pic was angled, it merged with the bridge and makes it look very large. ;;D

She's beautiful tho!  We saw her profile and it is just perfect, I can't wait to meet her!!

What a beautiful thing the scan is.

I went to the scan of my second grandchild to-day ( 24 weeks ) and can share with you the wonder and joy at seeing perfection .

They  say it is another girl - all hail to girl power.

Tanya

ps Happy new year

But Rosy, I don't want her to turn around.  I was secretly hoping I'd have a c-section and wouldn't have to give the normal birth this time because I was having tons of anxiety attacks about it. :-[

and Mike, there are definately NOT 2 in there!  Ya nut... :P

I agree Mel.
What's a few more days being sore afterwards compared to hours and hours of labor.

It's funny Mel because I was DREADING the birth of #3. Brid's birth was horrific. Barney was terrifying because I didn't have a single contraction. They took me down tot he delivery suite to induce me, I thought I was going to explode from needing to go to the loo - I was crossing EVERYTHING LOL and he was born! (No wonder he's such a little shit huh?!) It was less than ten minutes from needing to go to the loo to the afterbirth and I spent the rest of the day shaking because it was such a shock.

By the time I had Jasper six years later I was dreading labour but I was terrified of a C section even more. I ended up having an emergency C section as I developed Eclampsia so it was life threatening for both of us and I can honestly say it was tougher getting over that than any of the births so there are swings and roundabouts to both methods!

Whatever is right is what will happen. No point in worrying about it now (although we all do!) Just try to banish the thoughts from your mind - stick your fingers in your ears and shout "I can't see you I can't hear you la la la la la" until they go away!  ;)

You'll be fine - and I'll be Auntie Helen again!

Won't be long now Mel!  You know, to be totally honest, I've always sucked at reading ultrasounds...but I am positive your baby girl is beautiful just like her mom.

Thanks you guys! :-*

You know, I don't mind giving a natural birth, as long as I have a spinal done again for most of the hard labor.  What I am VERY nervous about however, is giving birth to a baby butt first. :o  That is scary!  If I did that there is a chance of the cord being compressed which is dangerous to the baby.  If she doesn't turn by 38 weeks, I'm assuming I'll have the c-section.

I had surgery back in the spring of 2000 to have an ovary removed.  Had a 6 inch horizontal incision, was put to sleep, woke up with a morphine drip (never again) and it was a painful recovery, but the hospital stay was always worse than being at home.  Now when I have surgery, it's only Tylenol 3 for pain (what is that pain, really? ;)) or ibuprofen.

I'm a clusterhead, the pain doesn't scare me, but something happening to my baby does.  That and mentally it is hard to wrap my head around the fact that my cervix has to dialate to fit the baby's head!  I know, I shouldn't worry about it, but that's what anxiety disorders do.  Your brain doesn't shut up and you keep thinking about it until you feel like you're going insane or going to pass out. ::)

I'll be fine, one way or the other.  Being prepared for anything that can happen is a good way to deal, and I'm prepared for surgery, now I'm trying really hard to prepare for a normal birth.  I'm torn by what I want, but it's whatever is best for baby, not for me.  (OK, that is only partially true, lol)

:)

You WILL be fine, Mel, and so will Ava. You've got the attitude part licked.

Roy was dancing on Pat's cervix until 2 weeks before he was born.
