Title: Lawn Mower
Post by aubmari on Apr 4th, 2007, 5:26pm
The Broken Mower

When our lawn mower broke and wouldn't run, my wife kept hinting to me that I should get it fixed. But, somehow I always had something else to take care of first, the truck, the car, playing golf - always something more important to me.

Finally she thought of a clever way to make her point. When I arrived home one day, I found her seated in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. I watched silently for a short
time and then went into the house. I was gone only a minute, and when I came out again I handed her a toothbrush.

I said, "When you finish cutting the grass, you might as well sweep the driveway."

The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp.

Moral to this story: Marriage is a relationship in which one person is
always right, and  the other is the husband.

When we moved - the fields surrounding our new house became an immediate concern of mine.  My wife immediately began commenting on how nice it was to watch wildlife along the edges.

I informed my wife that I wasn't going to waste time and money cutting grass and informed her that I would cut a 10' buffer around the house and leave the rest to overgrow.

That worked for the first year but it soon became apparent that overgrowing fields are havens for rodents - and blacksnake's apparently moved in from miles around.  I bought a backhoe, re-graded around the house, installed a wrap around driveway and began cutting a 20 - 30' strip around the driveway.  Not good enough.

My wife insisted that the fields be cut.  So I offered to buy her a tractor so that she could cut the fields.  She accepted the offer and started maintaining the fields.    That worked okay for about 1 month but ended when she rolled the tractor over a hilliside.  I still say it was on purpose because magically she wasn't in it at the time.

So now I'm stuck maintaining fields and a tractor that I refused to waste time and money on in the first place and she gets to watch her wildlife.

Your quote is perfect.
