Title: Dirty tree humor Post by burnt-toast on Sep 9th, 2006, 7:17am A birch and a beech, grow side by side in the woods for about 50 years. One spring they take notice of a sapling that has managed to grow between them over that last few years. “Is that a son of a beech? Or son of a birch”? asks the beech tree. After some time the birch admits that as saplings it still hard to tell species, let along gender. Just then a woodpecker lands on the sapling. The birch says, "Woodpecker, you’ve become a bit of a tree expert over the years. Can you tell if that sapling is a son of a beech, or son of a birch?" Hopping up and down the slender trunk the woodpecker studies the sapling and then jams his beak into the young tree and tastes a sample. “Well?” ask the beech and the birch. "Neither a son of a beech nor a son of a birch.” replied the woodpecker. “But it is the best piece of ash I’ve had in years”. |
