Title: Made in China not CH
Post by forgetfulnot on Dec 8th, 2003, 12:03am
My wife went Christmas shopping the other day, she bought ten items, everything from tree ornaments to stuffed toys.

Every one was made in China.

And we have an unemployment problem?

I went to an investment seminar the other week. The main thing I saw from the presentation was that China "owns" a very large percentage of US debt from it's trade with the US. China is now the largest manufacturing nation in the world, and the US will soon not even be a global player in manufacturing.

Are you guys spending your hard earned tax money on the wrong things?

China is the next #1 world power, and i believe we will see that soon! Until their money becomes comparable to ours, they have an extreme advantage.
My wife is Chinese, She is an accountant in a college there. She is middle class by Chinese standards. She makes 1200 yuan a month. That is $150.00 US dollars.
China just became the #2 consumer of all oil and gas in the world. That is scary, considering i have been there twice this year. They are fast approaching being Japans #1 car buyer. Ya know how much a Toyota Corolla cost in China? About $3500.00 US dollars!
How can we compete with a country that can dig the steel out of the ground for about 1/20th of the cost, and at every facet of its manufacturing do the labor for about the same amount.
Hell, I've been told by my own company that January 9th will be my last day ( Laid off) Guess where GE is locating the one of their strongest divisions, If you guessed China, You would be correct!
Here my wife is working her ass off to get over here, when in reality, the future might be better over there!
I have strongly considered teaching English in China, but mainly just so i could be with my wife while we wait for the Immigration process to be approved! But also, they pay Teachers from English speaking countries approximately 8000 yuan a month to teach there. That is rich by Chinese standards.

Quality, Chinese steel products are inferior and in some cases banned by ASME and other governing body’s for use in the US. They take shortcuts at every step like everything else they make.

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago and our nation was the most prosperous in the world, had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What the hell happened?

Those sneaky little commie bastards have stolen our capitalist system and is using it against us.  ;)
