See the orange nerve that turns yellow and runs down to the teeth?....Thats the CH pain nerve, thats why your teeth hurt. I cant advise you on that cause it never happen to me but stick around, the family will will be by soon and clue you in.

For months after my last cycle, I had bad pain on the right upper jaw from the molars around to the front.   At first, I was worried that it was a problem with my teeth but why would ALL of those teeth start to hurt at the same time?

About 3 months after my cycle, the pain went away.  I still have some teeth that are sore, but those are because of dental work that actually needs to be done.

The trigeminal nerve runs right along the upper jaw (I thought until I took a closer look LOL) and apparently its not uncommon for it to "mask itself" as problems with your teeth.

Like with anything else, you probably should your teeth  checked out.

Thanks for the pic, jonny.   I got the same one around here somewhere but ya beat me to it.

Hi, Tim!  Welcome to the nuthouse family!  Sorry you have to be here, but this is the best place for information.

The pain you describe is exactly like I get, when I get a bad hit (KIP6 or higher).  When I started with this "mere headache" (about 25 years ago) I did not have the teeth pain.  It started about four years ago for me.  I had all my teeth checked, and they are fine.  As Grant says, above, it is a good idea to have them checked, just in case.

For me, the only thing that stops the pain, is the end of that particular hit, wether it is using an abortive (oxygen works for me) or just the end of the hit, that is the only thing I have found to stop the pain in the teeth.

Welcome aboard, and tell us more about you.  We are a nosey caring and inquisitive group.  We like to know about our family members.

Chuck

Tim,

I've had that pain. Jonny's graphic shows our problem nerve very well, and all branches can get berserk in a cluster headache.  Most commonly, it is that one spot behind the eye, but I have had several headaches where I could feel the pain crawl down the nerve into my jaw and teeth.  It ain't fun, but for the most part, its no different than the pain in a 'normal' cluster.

Teeth hurt on CH side.  Jaw is also sore.  Today jaw is almost locked.

Dr told me not closely related to the CH, except that you get so tense when you have one that you might clench the hell out of your jaws and that is what will cause the problem.

I clench my jaws with a wicked CH and that is why I can't move my mouth too much today.

Or TN (I forget what it stands for)...supposedly it is right up there with CH on the pain scale.  However, it is controllable.

Jaw pain not close to CH.  Jaw pain comes from just being tense.  Dentist told me one time to drink a glass of wine before going to bed and it would relieve it.  Well, it relieves the jaw problem, but if I am in cycle it will trigger a big hit.

I get the teeth pain.  Try a hot rag on your face, it helps me alleviate some of the pain.

TN stands for Tennessee. I have to drive through it when I go from Florida back to the Midwest.  It's actually kind of nice.

Oh, Trigeminal Neuralgia??  Yeah, actually, the description of TN is more like somebody in another post just used to describe their head pain - electric zaps or some such.  Its the same nerve as in the picture, but has different symptoms and causes.  In a sense, clusters are a type of TN, which is a fancy way of saying nerve pain. But cluster headaches are a very specific type of trigeminal nerve pain.

More on TN here: http://www.tna-support.org/Definition.htm

I unfortunately get tooth pain also.  CH is on the left side and the left rear molars/wisdom tooth area sometimes hurts alot, when i am having a CH.  Pain is gone after the CH tho.  This is only on the bad ones tho.  If it is really bad the inside of my ear, lower jaw and upper rear teeth.  What a frickin treat.  Doesn't happen except on the really bad ones tho.  Don't think mine is related to teeth clenching.  The pain is like the CH itself, the pain of it is gone when the "headache" is gone.

As mentioned in this thread and shown in the picture jonny posted, the nerve is called the Trigeminal nerve. It has 3 main branches that supply sensation to the face, sinuses and teeth. It has a motor branch that supplies the muscles used in chewing food. It's all connected and so the pain is most likely due to the CH. I don't know why some cycles are different  than others but I guess I just wanted to tell you to not be worried if your teeth hurt unless you really feel that something is wrong with your teeth. I think it's just the  beast stompin' on your head.
Hope you're PF soon!
K.

Welcome Tim_S

I get pain on the upper right side of my teeth. It usually only happens when I get KIP 9 & 10's.
It takes a couple hours after the attack to go away.
It is really not that bad for me, just annoying as Hell.
I just had back to back 10's with about 2 1/2 hr. break in between hits. My teeth are hurting right now but not as bad as my head.
It feels like a mild electric shock to the teeth. Kinda zaps me in sinc with my heartbeat.

yep, my teeth hurt during and after CH too, but only the bad ones...from clenching teeth and the big fat nasty nerve that's the topic of discussion..sometimes I'm sure I've pushed my molars halfway back into the jawbone from clenching my teeth.
Go ahead... [smiley=biggrin.gif]stick your finger in there and see what happens...hehehe [smiley=laugh.gif]

I have a lot of jaw and teeth pain, hurts like the dickens. I can totally relate with you. I haven't found anything yet to help ease it. I have had my teeth checked and nothing there. I think it is just part of the CH's. My teeth don't hurt with every ha though. Just randomly.

My teeth also hurt during an attack.  Especially the upper wisdom tooth that was pulled about five years ago.  Figure that one out  ;)

Probably ghost pain or something.

They just remove the tooth, not the nerve it was attached to.  They can screw up and damage that nerve though...you'd know if they did.

Yes to the tooth pain.  As far as getting rid of it? - Aborting the ch usually works for me.
