Title: Rock & CH
Post by sandie99 on Nov 26th, 2003, 7:36am
As a music fan, I love to listen to several types of music. But I've noticed that since I started fighting against CH, I've listen to rock a lot. It seems to me that with ch pain, I can only 'relate' to rock... Anybody noticed the same? I know there are other rocklovers here, too!

best wishes & PFdays,
sandie99

I like some different types of music also, however, I love rock.  Yes it helps working through a CH.  So I know where you are coming from.

I tend to head for the Jazz and Blues when in the throes...calms my nerves a bit. Helps keep me from losing it around my kids so much. They are used to the pacing and hair pulling by now, poor babies. But some Nora Jones just calms my nerves a bit when it is raging. :)

I love Hiatt too.  It was so cool, when we were driving to Virginia....we met him at the gas pump when we stopped at a truck stop. My jaw dropped when I recognized him, but I was hightailing it to the restroom......my husband and him sat there and chatted for quit awhile though.

My cluster headache theme song (although I can't listen to it WHILE I'm having the h/a), says EXACTLY what I'm feeling:

Weathered

I lie awake on a long, dark night
I can’t seem to tame my mind
Slings and arrows are killing me inside
Maybe I can’t accept the life that’s mine
No I can’t accept the life that’s mine

Simple living is my desperate cry
Been trading love with indifference
yeah it suits me just fine
I try to hold on but I’m calloused to the bone
Maybe that’s why I feel alone
Maybe that’s why I feel so alone

Me…I’m rusted and weathered
Barely holding together
I’m covered with skin that peels and
it just won’t heal

The sun shines and I can’t avoid the light
I think I’m holding on to life too tight
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust
Sometimes I feel like giving up
Sometimes I feel like giving up

Me…I’m rusted and weathered
Barely holding together
I’m covered with skin that peels
and it just won’t heal

The day reminds me of you
The night hides your truth
The earth is a voice
Speaking to you
Take all this pride
And leave it behind
Because one day it ends
One day we die
Believe what you will
That is your right
But I choose to win
So I choose to fight
To fight

I fall asleep to Pantera.  It is so heavy, yet something about it lulls me to sleep.  I appreciate that!

Glam band?  Pantera is not even close.  However, I do enjoy a good glam band on occasion.

Hell, music is so bad anymore, that I am just grateful when people can actually play an instrument.

I'm just messin' with Jonny.  I know they're metal.  I love metal too bad the only good stuff you can hear nowadays is either your old albums or the bands at the local clubs.

So much music sucks anymore.  I hate that most of the artist now don't write, play an instrument (they might play with themselves), or anything.  What happened to music?

nothing like a nice calming c&w ballad to calm me during the pain.  i close my eyes and pretend to be dancing...dancing in a circle around the pain but trying to avoid stepping inside the circle.

I think that these days they just want to make money and not music. Or, money matter more than the music, which is sad.

When I was watching UK's Popidol few weeks ago, Mr Cowell said to one boy "we could sell millions of records with you". In his case, it was more about his boy bandish looks than his voice, although he sang nicely.
The question is: why do we, the record buying folkes, go for it? or do we end up buying something because that's all there is at the moment?

Good question?  Most music is directed at teenagers and they are so into "the look."  There are few teens who are willing to stray from what is considered cool to look for actual talent in anything.  You know?

I love lots of music and always have.  I remember being in school and people thinking something was wrong with me because I loved music from the 60's and blues.  It wasn't cool for a 17 yr old to listen to Muddy Waters when I was in school.  Of course, I suppose it is still isn't cool to do that.

I saw Muddy Waters live in 1979 when I was 18.   My friends thought I was nuts for going and I had to be 20 yrs younger than anyone else there.

One of the BEST concerts I've EVER been to!!!     (He passed away soon after and I never would have had another chance to see him.)

8) I heard Judas Priest might be getting back together for a big tour [smiley=headbanger.gif]. There's just to much money to be made.IMHO Halford is still the best metal singer along with Bon Scott.

I usually listen to a wide variety of music, but always come back to hard rock, like really hard rock! However, when I am in an episode of headaches I end up listening to a lot slower music. I am always short on sleep, and kind of depressed during a cycle so I listen to mellow stuff. I discovered Evanescence just before this last cycle, and I listened to them a lot.  When I feel healthy again, like now, I love to get charged up to intense rock and work out!!!!
