Title: Jonny, Did this piss ya off as much as it did me!
Post by Patrick_A on Nov 25th, 2003, 12:41am
"Beatle George Harrison, pop's Prince and California singer/songwriter Jackson Browne are among this year's varied crop of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame newcomers.
At a ceremony set for New York's Waldorf-Astoria hotel on March 15, the Hall of Fame also will induct bearded Texans ZZ Top, Britain's Traffic (led by Steve Winwood), Detroit rocker Bob Seger and 1960s R&B vocal group The Dells."

Among artists on this year's ballot who didn't make the cut: John Mellencamp, the Sex Pistols and Black Sabbath. Last year's honorees included Elvis Costello, The Police and The Clash.

I was happy to see George Harrison,Bob Seger, ZZ Top, and Jackson Browne get in. BUT, they denied probably the greatest Heavy Metal band of all time Black Sabbath! Prince gets in before Sabbath, What a fuggin waste!

What do you expect?

We live in a world of Michael Jackson, Britanny Spears and "American Idol".

This is very little music anymore!  Everything revolves around the bubblegum pop.

"So you children of the world, listen to what I say
If you want a better place to live in spread the words today
Show the world that love is still alive you must be brave
Or you children of today are Children of the Grave."
Children of the Grave - Master of Reality 1971

Here's to Sabbath! [smiley=headbanger.gif]
Paranoid has got to be one of my all time faves...great lyrics, smokin' guitar, awesome!

Paranoid
Finished with my woman 'cause she couldn't help me with my mind
people think I'm insane because I am frowning all the time
All day long I think of things but nothing seems to satisfy
Think I'll lose my mind if I don't find something to pacify

Can you help me occupy my brain?
Oh yeah

I need someone to show me the things in life that I can't find
I can't see the things that make true happiness, I must be blind

Make a joke and I will sigh and you will laugh and I will cry
Happiness I cannot feel and love to me us so unreal

And so as you hear these words telling you now of my state
I tell you to enjoy life I wish I could but it's too late

I am sure we all know that the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame neglects alot of the greats.  It is not there intent to create a true hall of great musicians, writers, and performers.  They just wanna make money on the fluff.  So they neglect the alot of the icons.  It is just not fair!

As far as I know they wanted to put Sabbath in but Ozzy said "If the fans are not the ones who vote on who gets in, then fuck off!!"

Back in 1999, former BLACK SABBATH singer Ozzy Osbourne attempted to
take the group's name off the Hall of Fame's 1999 nomination list,
deeming the institution's nod "meaningless."

In an October 1999 letter to the Hall of Fame, Osbourne said: "Just
take our name off the list. Save the ink. Forget about us. The
nomination is meaningless, because it's not voted on by the fans.
It's voted on by the supposed elite for the industry and the Media,
who've never bought an album or concert ticket in their lives, so
their vote is irrelevant to me." He says, "Let's face it, BLACK
SABBATH has never been media darlings. We're a people's band and that
suits us just fine."

But according to a source at the Hall of Fame Foundation, Oz can't be
taken off the nomination list. The best the old bat-biter can do is
to refuse the nomination if BLACK SABBATH are finally voted into the
Hall of Fame this year. "He can pull a George C. Scott, if he wants
to [referring to the 1970 incident when Scott refused the best actor
award for his performance in 'Patton'], but he can't take his name
off the list," the unnamed source told Rolling Stone magazine.

BLACK SABBATH have been eligible for induction for the past seven
years.

Iron Man was Nelson's campaign song when he was running for class president on last week's Simpsons.
