Thanks for the thought. It is a tragedy.

"The blast" killed 14 Italian soldiers.

Good Bless all the soldiers in Iraq.

16 of the dead were Italian Carabinieri,
and 2 were Italian civilians filming a documentary on the Italian military in Iraq.

I am sad for the loss of heroic volunteers, trying to make a better place over there. We will all continue to work to give the Iraqis their freedom, and we will not let a few fanatic insurgents take that away. They deserve better, unfortunately the price is very high. While we mourn those deaths, we salute their bravery and commitment.

Jason says it as well as anyone can.  Even all the more significant when I think about Jason gearing up to do his part "over there".

God be with all those wonderful sons and daughters who willingly go so that others may have a better life.

Thinking of ALL OF YOU (and Zazi and Andrea) at this time.  God speed!!

Zaira:

Horrible thing to learn and there is no way it makes sense.  It's important to acknowledge these people so they are not forgotten.

I like clusterheads.

Jason, I'm with you.  You said it very well.

To Zaira, Riccardo, and our other Italian friends, I'm terribly sorry for your loss, but I'm also profoundly grateful.  I knew Italy was participating in freeing the Iraqi people, but did not hear of the loss of your people.  I pay little attention to the news.  The Scriptures speak to a situation like this, "Greater love has no man, than to lay down his life for a friend."  I know that the context was that of Christ laying down his life for us, but the meaning still fits.  I'll be praying for the families.

Jerry

Thanks so much from Italy.
Sadly, this is the war.

So so sorry for Italy's loss (for everyone's loss). I just read a news story that said 20 wounded and 18 dead were on their way back to Italy. They are going to have a 'state funeral' on Tuesday.
Read the story here (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/afp/20031114/ts_afp/iraq_attack_italy_031114141421&e=5)
