Title: Updates, News, OUCHFest raffles, bands & more
Post by Carl_D on Oct 17th, 2003, 12:57pm
I'll try to be brief, but just ask Jonny...some people have to wait for the "Posts on tape" to catch everything.

Last time I posted, things looked bleak, morale was low, and I was pretty disheartened at the outlook. I roughed through it, the fricken melon from hell has been battling me, but I have successfuly staved of the CH's, for now.
Well, our old drummer got all wigged out over something or another, started accusing guys in the band of sleeping with his girlfriend, packed up his drums and left. Mike called me freaking out, and I just took a deep breath, sucked it up and said "That's fine. It's okay. We will not only find another drummer, we'll find a better one........
And we succeeded.
We have a fricken AWESOME drummer, and the stuff we are doing thumps. We have welcomed into the ranks Rich "Menace" Wilkinson as our new drummer and brother in the sickness.People months ago would watch us and say" you guys are okay" - last night when we rehearsed - JAWS WERE ON THE FLOOR!!!! I even told Doc I want to start recording our rehearsals. Let's just say, we are doing a halloween party - but I don't think anyone is ready for us sickos in "Act of God." But enough about that...those of you who are coming to the benefit will be floored with the lineup we've got. Bob Griffin will start the night out with acoustic classic rock; and the music will get more intense as the night progresses.

There was a question about how we should do the raffles. Would it be only an attendee thing, or can it be done online? Do you have to be present to win?
After beating myself upside the head stupid, I could only come to this conclusion as to how to do the raffles.
Raffle tickets will be available to attendees the night of the benefit and the procedure for handling them are as follows:
Tickets will be $2.00 each, 3 for $5.00, 7 for $10.00.
Ticket increments will reflect this posturing. Say you want 10 tickets. $15.00. 15 tickets $22.00 etc.

You MUST be present to win and receive your prize. Prizes will be written down on a piece of paper, thrown into a box, and shuffled around. Another box will have the raffle tickets in it. When a number is drawn, and the ticket winner comes to the stage, they will reach thier hand inside, draw out a paper revealing the item they have one. Could be something big, maybe something small. So far we have a DVD player and a Hoover vaccuum for auction items, and I am currently trying to get a guitar donated by a local music store. I have beat myself stupid for a couple of weeks trying to figure out cool items people would want. Heck, even considered contacting Pamela Lee to see if she'd donate one of her extracted breast implants, but the paperwork was much too tedious. So I need HELP!!!! Got an idea or a donation, message me here or send me an email.

Oh, and as my bros and everybody know about my writings, especially with lyrics...I tend to write some straight forward stuff, and some very abstract stuff. WE have got a couple of our best songs this way like "Dope sick girl" - and man if you ever met her, you'd say "Damn! That fits!"
Well, after cooling out on the couch upstairs with Doc, I was pissed and kept thinking about Kenny. He accused ME of sleeping with his chick, and I am so far from being like that it isn't funny. I'm the music geek that is thinking MUSIC 24/7 (when not engulfed in CH agony).
Well, evil ole me wrote a new tune last night called "Girlfriend." Mike gave me a riff Doc drank another beer, Rich tapped the skins and - you'll just have to wait until you see the show.
I have been in many bands my friends, and have brushed up with a few of the greats, but man - if my head will just cooperfuckinate, I really do think this could be bigger than any one of us could imagine. WE have the cover for first album, tentatively titled "Arrival" on our new website - which will have songs, lyrics, bios, and MP3's soon.

How would I describe our sound? Well, that is just the thing...in a world of copycat bands (121 pearl jam offshoots and 32 Green Day Wannabes) we have a unique sound, and we each provide a vital element to the creativity and productivity of what "Act of God" is.
Thats all I can say for now. We are definitely NOT for the "Helen Reddy or Neil Diamond" crowd, faint of heart, or those requiring pacemakers.

C'ya...
