Title: d-Con is not a good abortive
Post by ckelly181 on Oct 15th, 2003, 7:44pm
Okay, so I just wanted to share a recent victory...my beloved corgi dog Casey ate 2 boxes of d-Con last Saturday morning (I was visiting my folks). Upon discovering it, I blew into an instant KIP7.

No way in hell was I going to give in to this demon when I had to save my dog's life. I drove to the vet screaming at the top of my lungs..."Don't die, don't die!!!"

I didn't have time to do the 02, in my haste I left the trex at home. It just seems that through sheer will I blasted that sucker gone. Probably adrenaline - or screaming. I held my dog as the vet induced vomiting and shoved 2 cups of charcoal goo down his throat.

Anyway, long story short (heheh), Casey is fine, I'm now 4 days PF...knock on wood.

So, here's another poll - ever have a victory getting through one of these suckers?

Chris

Damn!  Glad your dog is ok!!  D-Con may not be a good abortive but Adrenaline evidently is!

I've always been so scared of pesticides (insect or rodent)  I'm so glad everything worked out for you!

Ok, so let me get this straight - to get rid of a headache - you give your dog D-con, then rush to the vet screaming at the top of your lungs "Don't die, don't die!" and the vet saves your dog and you get rid of the headache.

I talked this over with my two dogs and they both vetoed the idea. They agreed that while they loved me dearly, they were not willing to do the d-con even for me.

Glad your dog is ok and that your headache is gone. Can I borrow YOUR dog? LOL!

Cute, Barbara!

Casey has informed me in NO UNCERTAIN terms that I am not to make him vomit like that again. When I brought him into the vet to check his blood levels, he just about crawled into my body....we don't like the vet too much anymore...

Chris - who hugs her pup a little harder these days...

Yep, and if I waz you, I'd be buying a lot of nice doggie treats too. LOL! I can understand why Casey would be a little upset at you and the Vet.

You two aren't, by any chance, taking Sansert, are you?

Good for you. The same thing happened to my sister's dog one Thanksgiving dinner. He ate one box of D-Con and all the vets were closed for the holiday. We called a friend who was a vet and she said to use extract of Ipecac (or Ipecac Syrup) to make the dog vomit. We did and ol' Sammy was pukin' green-blue stuff in the back yard before long. We were told that getting it puked up right away was the critical thing.

Good to hear that Casey is doing well.

Take care

Hee hee - I have the most stimulating conversations with my dog. I'm sure others will attest to their great insight on the human condition.
