Cluster Chuck called me today. His daughter tried to commit suicide last night. He as well as his family is in need of prayers. We all know what the prayers from this board can accomplish, so start your stuff.

Here is one from me to you Chuck,

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Hang in there Chuck, and let your daughter know how much you love her.

I don't know you Chuck, but remember....
"tried to commit suicide"
and
"committed suicide"

are the best difference in the english language.

Now, even though I assume you hurt due to our common beast...you can help your daughter and I bet the beast will leave you alone while you do.

Life is precious and happiness is a choice.

I'm sending strength to you and hope to your daughter.

I'm just praying for God to be with her right now and to heal her. May He fill the void she has that would cause her to feel there was no hope. Blessings to you Chuck as well.

Damn....Chuck called me last night......I had gone to a high school football game. Got in pretty late. Hubby told me Chuck had called.......but I had no idea that anything was wrong. First time I have been on the board today ( been on ph checking on my sister most of the day.) I read this post and I feel terrible cause I didn't call him back last nite.

So sorry I let you down, Chuck. Sorry I wasn't here. :'(

My heart goes out for Chuck and his family...
My cousin, who is more like a sister to me, tried to kill herself two years ago, so I know a bit what you are feeling right now... :(
I pray that it will turn out for the best!

Chuck:

Hopefully your daughter realizes that no problems she has warrant such an action. Let her know that it would just take her pain and spread it out, affecting everyone around her that cares.

Also let her know that clearer thinking the next day usually prevails.

I had a friend (from here) point this out to me a few months ago when I was going through a rough stretch and while things didn't get better immediately (eventually they are coming around), I feel forever indebted to this person even though we aren't as close as we once were.

I'm hoping and praying whatever it is in your daughter's life that has her so distraught works itself out soon.

Chuck,

This type of event can make you feel helpless. But I know from first hand experience that this is not the case.

Take a deep breath.

I sought help from every quarter. I was patient but persistant. I learned to listen like never before. I wrote to my daughter instead of talking to her. I did many other things too long to write here. Mostly I struggled the weight that I placed on myself. That can be the hardest thing to shake off. But you must. That energy needs to be steered elsewhere.

Be patient.

My prayers are with you both.

Hey if you need someone to talk to let me know. My family has been through this several times with two of my brothers. If your daughter wants someone to talk to who has been where she is, let me know. I'll give her my older brother's phone number.

I just spoke with Chuck, and first and foremost....he thanks all of you for your prayers and support.....aside from that, he is being a Dad....with his daughter, caring for, and about her. He assures me he is...ummm, well, if you've spoken to him...ya know this line...."fahn...jes fahn"......followed, of course, by a resounding..."sheesh damn pest...".....His eyes are working for the most part, and he has his 02 right next to him....and he seems to be coping very well......working under duress seems to go with the territory, doesn't it?
Stephanie is being released today to another facility, where, hopefully, she will deal with whatever it was that made her take this desperate measure. Chuck will stand by her all the way through this ordeal.
He asked me to express his gratitude to all of you, and I am sure you will continue to send wishes, prayers, vibes, juj....whatever you have to offer...her way.
Funny thing about Chuck- with all this going on in HIS life, his first words after he greeted me today on the phone had to do with OTHERS he has been concerned about.......but then, that's Chuck....the putz......
