Title: Re: body temperature Post by Ungweliante on Apr 11th, 2008, 6:02pm I don't know, but I've noticed a general drop in my body temperature from 36,8'C to 35,8'C since the clusters started last autumn. The doctor didn't think there's anything to it. |

Title: Re: body temperature Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Apr 11th, 2008, 7:54pm Definately. I used to take sauna a lot, triggered me every time, so I stopped. Hot tubs are bad news too. |

Title: Re: body temperature Post by monty on Apr 11th, 2008, 8:01pm I am more susceptible to heat when in cycle, and sweating makes the CH worse. |

Title: Re: body temperature Post by sandie99 on Apr 12th, 2008, 5:22am I've got hit quite often just minutes after a warm shower, so it is absolutely one of the things which trigger ch for me. Sanna |

Title: Re: body temperature Post by Bob_Johnson on Apr 12th, 2008, 11:59am Remarkably little in the med literture on the topic although several of us have reported elevated body heat as a trigger for an attack. -------- Lancet. 1999 Sep 18;354(9183):1001-2. Comment in: Lancet. 2000 Jan 8;355(9198):147. A new cluster headache precipitant: increased body heat. Blau JN, Engel HO. Exercise, a hot bath, or elevated environmental temperature provoked cluster headaches, within 1 h, in 75 out of 200 patients. This new observation accords with recognised precipitants--alcohol, histamine, and gyceryl trinitrate--perhaps via generalised vasodilatation or hypothalamic activation. Title: Re: body temperature Post by mezza on Apr 12th, 2008, 11:26pm interesting thread- something i have been going back and forth with with myself too. When I am feeling bad, lots of shadows, exhausted from the stress of dealing with the cycle i want a hot bath- I then always feel worse after, shadows are worse , etc. So i have been thinking that the heat is trigger for me- I live in nc and a couple of days this week have been warm almost hot to point of sweating too. But i didn't notice that my head felt worse then- Been wondering whether if this cycle goes in summer and summer is extremely hot here- will that extend the cycle or make shadows worse? something i've been thinking about too |

Title: Re: body temperature Post by beachmusic on Apr 13th, 2008, 10:04am I am one of those folks was always warmer than the average person. Everyone would bring a sweater to my house even if it was 90 degrees outside Since I started having CH or better yet started the topamax/dopamax I am FREEZIN brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr always. Very strange [smiley=twocents.gif] |

Title: Re: body temperature Post by Annette on Apr 13th, 2008, 9:45pm High temperature was a definite trigger for my husband. Even when out of cycle, a few weeks ago when he did a lot of work outside under the hot sun and got tired and sweaty, he got a lingering shadow which was building slowly. He had to stop, take a cold shower and a Red bull before that one went away. I think excessive heat causes vasodilation which can trigger a hit. |

Title: Re: body temperature Post by BarbaraD on Apr 14th, 2008, 7:13am When I'm getting hit my internal thermostat goes sky high. My house stays COLD - I just can't stand heat at all (baths excluded - they don't seem to bother me). I do wear sunglasses outside (can't stand direct sunlight on my eyes at any time - winter or summer). I've been on topamax since 99 so I don't think that's the reason - I think it's just the darn headaches. Hugs BD |
