Title: Generic sumatriptan soon ? Post by tony-PA on Mar 29th, 2008, 3:32pm Ciao everybody, I heard that pretty soon the Glaxo's patent of sumatriptan will expire and the generic version is going to be marketed. The only reference I found is in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumatriptan Any other detailed informations ? Thanks for the answers and wishing all of you a great (and PF) week-end, tony p.s.: lately all over in Italy there is an unusual shortage of imigran/shots in the drug stores. I was wondering if that can be because of a far-sighted move and cut of production. |

Title: Re: Generic sumatriptan soon ? Post by AlienSpaceGuy on Mar 29th, 2008, 5:04pm Toni, there is a whole thread about this on the medications board: http://www.clusterheadaches.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=meds;action=display;num=1203655255 In Switzerland there are 2 generics available. For 2 ampules (6 mg / 0.5 ml) the prices are: Sumatriptan-Mepha CHF 48.55 Sumatriptan Spirig CHF 48.40 For the orinal Imigran(GlaxoSmithKline) the price has come down from about CHF 120.00 a year ago to CHF 67.20 If you can read German or French you can search http://www.kompendium.ch. ( 1 CHF = 1 $ = 0.64 Euro ) [smiley=smokin.gif] |
