Title: Anybody get twitches ? Post by Mack on Feb 20th, 2008, 1:13am Hello All, It's been awhile since I've logged on...almost five years!! Mostly PF since I quit smoking 4 1/2 years ago. But this cycle is kicking my butt!! Been going 6 weeks now. I think (read: hope)the worst is over as attacks have been fewer and somewhat less intense, probably from medrol taper. Anyway, this cycle has a new 'feature'. Just before an attack, I get what feels like muscle contractions on the right side of my head and twitches under my right eye(pain side), on the bridge of my nose, and upper lip. I mentioned this to my neuro and will probably get an mri soon. Just wondering, does anybody else has any kind of similar tics or twitches? Mack |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by thomas on Feb 20th, 2008, 8:53am Yep, get the old eye twitch quite a bit before, during and after a cycle. |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by midwestbeth on Feb 20th, 2008, 9:28am I have eye twitches all the time. Mostly on right (non-cluster side), the left eye gets twitchy too, just not as bad as the right. Beth |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by George_J on Feb 20th, 2008, 10:08am Blepherospasm--a nice fat Latinism to sling about. I find that unlike "tic" or "twitch", "blepherospasm" elicits a simulacrum of tender concern in the listener. It's a nice word to use if you'd like a bit of uncomprehending solicitude and social grooming. Yeah, I get eye-twitches too, particularly in cycle. Best, George |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by sogna on Feb 20th, 2008, 12:35pm Yep, I get the twitches also. I never correlated them with CH though. Should've known better..... ;) ~Sonia |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by Sean_C on Feb 20th, 2008, 7:17pm I'm a twitcher. I've brought it up at the nuero, he said its nothing to worry about. ;) Sean........................... |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by Ob1kanobee on Feb 21st, 2008, 12:09am I get eye twitches and arm twitches but NOT when I'm in cycle. Have found no corallation between it an CH |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by Mack on Feb 21st, 2008, 2:29am Thanks everyone.. I thought maybe it could be related to CH. I guess it might be interesting to know what percentage of CH'ers have the same twitches vs. non-CH. Still would change the fact that its annoying as hell ::) My wife says I looking like I am trying to give myself a vulcan mind meld when I'm trying to calm the twitches. :P Mack |

LOL [smiley=huh.gif] That's a pretty standard position for this clusterhead during and shortly after a hit. I was doing this during attacks - messaging several pressure points at the same time with one hand - when I saw it on Star Trek. I couldn't believe it!!! From that time on I connected with the Mr. Spock character. He looked like he understood a CH hit. Wrenching pain, sometimes screaming, followed by near exhaustion when it was over. Chit maybe these CH's are caused because of the Vulcan blood in my system. ;;D Maybe there are other vulcans out there LOL!![smiley=confused.gif] See below. |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by Ungweliante on Mar 30th, 2008, 4:40am Oh definitely. Often it seems that during an attack, and sometimes more so when it's more severe, the muscles are contracting all over my body. Kinda like the somatic nervous system thinks that "Rosa is preoccupied with something else! Let's have a party, shall we?" |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by LivingBarometer on Mar 30th, 2008, 10:09am Now that you've mentioned it I've got twitches too(left eye lid). I can have these twitches anytime also when I'm not In a cluster episode(I'm episodic). But I do also think it has something to do with stress. For me CH and stress go hand in hand. |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by precipitate on Mar 30th, 2008, 12:35pm Yup, absolutely. In fact, I was just about to come on here and start a topic about eyelid twitches during an attack and then saw this thread. Mine specifically is my lower right eyelid on the same side of an attack. -steven |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by Braindead on Mar 30th, 2008, 2:25pm Twitches, Red HOT ears, buzz in my skull. I call this one thing I get a Star Cluster, feels like a million stars on my scalp all red hot (during the day). Then theres the Cluster at night. The fore mentioned is all daytime stuff. Some one said- somewhere I read and it fits perfect. It's a "Dirty Headache" Which to me- cuz I am into electronics is like a Dirty Electrical Signal. These things are weird and do lots of weird stuff to different folks. |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by Kitty1973 on Mar 30th, 2008, 7:58pm I also get the eye twitches, right eyelid, same side as CH. I also noticed sounds in my head, kinda like little explosions, and then the pain really hits. Kitty |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by Kitty1973 on Mar 30th, 2008, 8:20pm Sean, I just checked out the link you gave. I don't think that is it, cause I had a CT scan done that came out normal about 2 weeks ago. No bleeding, no tumors. Kitty |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by Kitty1973 on Mar 30th, 2008, 8:29pm Maybe I should have mentioned this: I currently have a sinus infection, and come to think of it the explosion sounds didn't start until I got it. Maybe I am just more aware of the pressure from that when I am about to get an attack. My Dr. did a CT scan about 2 weeks ago, and it showed no bleeding, no tumors, totally normal. Then things around here started blooming and my sinus had to act up. I have been on Kflex antibiotic for about 6 days, 4 more to go. I never had them before either. If they don't go away by the time I see the nuero on 17th of April I will bring it up with her. Does this make any sense to ya Sean? Kitty |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by jon019 on Mar 30th, 2008, 8:46pm Nope, no twitches. Back in the episodic days, it was a twinge. Kinda like an electric shock in the exact same place as the ch. 9 out of 10 times it meant "here I come". Hated that damn twinge. Only had a couple of minutes to respond before the beast "announced himself with authority" Regards Jon |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by Rosebuddy on Apr 1st, 2008, 12:30pm I get right foot twitches, too - not always, but usually as I am trying to fall asleep on a night when I'm going to wake up 2 hours later for a real treat! |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by DennisM1045 on Apr 1st, 2008, 12:36pm I get eye twitches and odd tremors sometimes. The tremors could be in a foot, shoulder, finger, ... It happens both in and out of cycle. I've tracked it down to calcium defeciency in my case. If I add a glass of milk to my daily diet they quiet down after a week or so. So in my case I don't think they are related to clusters. -Dennis- |

Title: Re: Anybody get twitches ? Post by Crappy on Apr 1st, 2008, 2:35pm I get the twinges, like little electric shocks, on my upper lip and bridge of nose, left side (pain side). They come right before, or in between attacks, and they make me jump and shout "Woah!" so my wife thinks I'm nuts. I also get twiches like. Crazy during the long buildup to pain during longer attacks, or on days when I'm hit back-to-back during the shadows between hits. Its mostly my eyelid, but some upper-lip with the shocks. Also, during days when I wish I could rest, but have to work, I feel the stress build up in my neck, shoulder, back of my arm down to my pinky, and down the left side of my back through my leg. All on the CH side. It starts to feel painful like being sore after yard work, and as soon as I start to relax at the end of the day I start to tremor in all of those places, and the kip 7s and 9s hit back to back until I fall asleep from exhaustion. Pain below my neck never happened until I had a 5-day prednisone infusion - I'm not sure what it did, but it's like it opened a highway for the CH pain. To run down the left side of my body. I also hear noises in the beginning stages of nightime hits, they're loud but like fluid squirting through a constricted opening. Squirt, swoosh, crackle - then I know a kip 7 or higher is coming. I've had multiple CTs and MRIs, all clean. |
