Title: wrong side ch
Post by midwestbeth on Feb 3rd, 2008, 12:13am
I've heard of this happening sometimes, but could never imagine getting hit on my right side until tonight.  Hopefully this is just a fluke.  Is this a common occurance with chronic ch?

Never had that happen Beth and I don't know how I'd handle it if I did. It's ALWAYS been on my left side.
Hang in there girl, hopefully it was a fluke.

ping pong

I get them occasionally.
They tend to not be as severe pain wise but come way more of a shock when they do appear.

hugs and table tennis :D

This happened to me last year (first and only time) and it was totally unreal. My left side was fine but I got hammered on the right side. After it broke it went back to the left side. Don't know why or how it happened, but, like I said -hasn't happened again. My neuro just shook his head on that one.

Hang in there and don't try to figure it out. It's just a fluke of being a CHer I guess.

Hugs BD

I was just thinking this morning how would it feel to have my CH switch to the left side for a change. Always been on my right. Wondering if the pain would be less severe.

I've never seen any medical comments on this question nor suggestion that switches have any significance.

My own history is one of years of the pain site moving around my head until "taking root" in one area.

Taking comfort in your coping skills/knowledge is the only really important point to keep in mind....

The right side ch wasn't as severe, it just really threw me off.  I'm used to it being on the left.  Saying I'm more comfortable with the left side might sound strange, but I think you know what I mean.

Thanks for the response.

Maybe you'll need to stop travelling near the equator. ;)

Beth,
I know what you mean... I'm a leftie, but I've had some ch action (so far, just shadows) on the right side.

I only had it "switch sides" once, and it was only for a couple of minutes right at the end of a hit in which I was away from 02 in a car (that was parked)--also happened to be the last hit I got that cycle.  Other weird thing is when it "switched" I got severe phonophobia, pulled open the velcro thing over the windshield and the sound was unnbelievably loud, never had phonophobia before that--all I can say is must be a fluke of some kind.

Similar to you hotprestwich

In my 4 years of cluster headache the cycles were always on my right side, but my last full 3 month cycle were on my left side with the same pain, it never switched side during that cycle.

I asked my neuro and she told that I was not the first patient who experienced side shift.

Mine have always been on the right side.  If I get a headache on the left side it is always bearable.

Just recently, I've had only shadows on the "wrong" (meaning right, haha) side.
The last right-sided action was very strange, I had the tearing and snottiness of a full-blown hit, along with some droopiness, but very minimal pain. It was strange....
