Title: Re: New cycle and nose bleeding Post by Bob_Johnson on Dec 31st, 2007, 12:36pm If it comes regularly after using Imitrex, report to the doc. If you are using much oxygen, can come from nasal irritation arising from the low humidity of O2. |

Title: Re: New cycle and nose bleeding Post by maryo on Dec 31st, 2007, 5:10pm It could be coincidence. I don't know where you live, but here in the cold north the air gets real dry. You know what to do if your nose bleeds more than mildly, right? Pinch you nostrils just below the bony bridge while leaning forward (so the blood doesn't run down the back of your throat). I can't remember for how long, something like 10-15 minutes. Hopefully yours isn't bleeding this bad. Sorry to hear about your rude awakening on 12/24 after two plus lovely years pf. |

Title: Re: New cycle and nose bleeding Post by DennisM1045 on Jan 1st, 2008, 12:35pm The dry NE air this time of year and using my O2 tank keep my nose dry enough to bleed frequently. Unfortunately it comes with the territory :-/ So long as you can get it to stop bleeding quickly, it's not a big deal. Wish I could be more help. -Dennis- |

Title: Re: New cycle and nose bleeding Post by rocketman3104 on Jan 1st, 2008, 5:53pm Mine was bleeding off and on before this cycle started. Think it was just the cold dry air. Check the humidity inside your house that can dry out the sniffer and cause the bleeds. |

Title: Re: New cycle and nose bleeding Post by Batch on Jan 1st, 2008, 8:43pm Be safe and call the doctor/neurologist that prescribed your topamax and imitrex and tell him about your nose bleeds. You've got a couple options if the nose bleed is coming from dried out nasal passages for some other reason. There are any number of over the counter nasal moisturizers and gel sprays to help when your nasal passages are too dry... Ask your local pharmacist for a recommendation. As far as oxygen therapy being the cause... I'm chronic and have been using oxygen therapy for over three years and never got a nose bleed from it... Then again... we're all different... If you're fortunate enough to have a Clustermasx, use the mouth tube configuration and give your nose a break... Take care, V/R, Batch |
