Title: Why is it so different this time?
Post by alobar on Dec 18th, 2007, 10:48pm
This is my first post so I'll try to keep it short. I'm 51 YO and have been episodic for 33 years. I used to get about one bout per year that would last 5-6 weeks. In the beginning it was no more than one hit per day. As I approached 40 I started having 2 or 3 attacks on bad days but typically could beat it down with O2. I've been using RC seeds once/month for the last 2 1/2 years and thought I'd found my cure.  Mr. C returned about 2 weeks ago and I'm just curious if anyone has had a cycle like this one. I have been getting hit every 60 minutes for up to 10 hours straight then I'll get a break for about 8 hours. O2 has been fairly effective but I'm not getting much sleep or quality time during the day. I guess I'm just checking to see if this is common to others. Thanks to all for the valuable information I've gained over the years from this site.

this sounds pretty similar to what my headaches have been like for the past couple weeks.

That's why it's so important to stay up on what works for others. This thing morphs incredibly fast and unfortunately it is not at all unusual for a medication to lose its effectiveness.

Read up on the medication board, might be time for a new prevent. Lithium has been holding strong for me as a prevent. Some find relief combining lithium and verapamil. Sounds like you definitely need to change something as you're really taking a beating. Good luck. :-/
