Title: OWWWWWWWW! Post by Buzz on Nov 26th, 2007, 10:22pm I'm being given a severe beating by the beast. Cycle started a couple of weeks ago, not too severe - Kip4/5 max. On Sunday night I got a bigger hit, KIp 7, I guess which lasted about an hour and then descended to about KIP 4 before becoming a KIP 8. The attack is coming in waves and between hits the lowest it gets is about Kip 4. It never goes away and as I type now I'm having a KIP 9. I'm exhausted, on the last reserves of my O2 (which doesn't seem to be working) twitching from Red Bull, which has given me bad heartburn. I have had almost no sleep in 48 hours. I'm losing faith in both O2 and Red Bull. All I know is that it will eventually end. But when? Sorry for whining. Paul |

Title: Re: OWWWWWWWW! Post by rolo65 on Nov 26th, 2007, 11:34pm I would go to the hospital and get a shot of DHE if it's that bad! That's about all I can think of that you can do fast without a doc visit. I've been on the coaster and I know it isn’t any fun. I’m also a chronic CH’er so I can honestly say I been there for weeks at a time and you got to keep searching for something to take as a preventative, maybe try the RC seed thing. I’ve tried everything and ended up on lithium, but then I’m chronic and you sound episodic. Pain free vibes, Rolo. |

Title: Re: OWWWWWWWW! Post by Buzz on Nov 27th, 2007, 4:17am Thanks for the kind words. Perhaps whining was cathartic. My headache stopped minutes later. But also, out of desperation, I took two migraine strength Nurofen (Ibuprofen 342Mg X 2) and I strongly believe that perhaps they tipped the scales in my favour. I have noticed them having an effect before if taken in 684Mg doses 4 times a day - but My doc was very wary of me taking that amount for any period of time beyond 3/4 days - and they do nothing in the face of a Kip 5 and up. I will try them again today to 'break the back' of today's cluster which will begin soon and I will report back... Finally, :) ;) :D ;;D 8) :-* [smiley=laugh.gif]. Buzzes are usually cheerful people so I pulled a few cheery faces for ya all! |

Title: Re: OWWWWWWWW! Post by Guiseppi on Nov 27th, 2007, 10:21am If the 02 is losing its effectiveness, ask your doctor about perhaps combining oral cafergot with your oxygen. I take an oral cafergot when I start my oxygen, the 02 beats it down, the cafergot will buy me up to 12 hours pain free time. I'm one of the minority in that 02 works for me but without the cafergot on board, the CH returns within 20 minutes of shutting down the 02. Maybe a new combo is all you need, hang in there, these damned things hurt when they get on the rampage. :-/ Guiseppi |

Title: Re: OWWWWWWWW! Post by BarbaraD on Nov 27th, 2007, 1:09pm I'm for trying the cafergot. It's long lasting and at least you can get some rest while it's working. Hugs BD |

Is that "4" the feeling of getting your face stepped on or is it an actual hit? If there is no pain free time, it may be an additional headache type and you really should get it checked out. If there is pf time, but residual pain, that happens to a lot of us, and sorry but have no solution. Good luck. Hang in there. Charlotte |

Title: Re: OWWWWWWWW! Post by Buzz on Nov 28th, 2007, 9:01am I get about 3- 4 hrs completely pain free every day (late afternoon & early evening) then they come back and last about 20 minutes at full strength (Kip7-10) with about 20 minutes at kip2 - kip4 before the next. When they are at their peak I feel very 'panicky' and usually rip off my O2 mask so I can do the "Cluster Quick-step" up and down the corridor... I then remind myself to be rational and go breathe oxygen. Its miserable, seems interminable but I always try to remember that when I'm out of cycle I forget that I suffer from this bloody condition and life returns to normal. |

Title: Re: OWWWWWWWW! Post by DennisM1045 on Nov 29th, 2007, 1:04pm Hey Buzz, Have you tried any triptans? There are lots of formulations out there. Do some reading and talk to your doctor. Good luck... -Dennis- |

Title: Re: OWWWWWWWW! Post by JohnMcCloy on Nov 30th, 2007, 10:58am Sorry to hear things are not working for you. That is one of the dreads of this affliction is that it seems to mutate. It is as if it learns how to harm you.I try to look forward to the 3 hrs Ill have when the pain is ended and then the recession period though @ times it is so hard. I know it sounds crazy Buzz but the next time you get a shadow shadow box like your fighting for your life.5 good minutes of vigorous boxing to the point where you are out of breath.I can abort 50% of my attacks this way..I will get more shadows as a result of it trying to break through again later only 2 hrs later on at times but for the past 2 years doing this has severely & I Mean severely eased my Cluster Headache pain & I have been fighting this thing Med free since age 11. Just remember every single headache is one less until your cycle is over. |
