Title: Shadows ???? Post by headbanger45 on Nov 8th, 2007, 1:23pm History: Eposodic - 15 yrs. - longest time off 5 years - summer (TX humidity time) start. normally 6-8 weeks. O.K. here's my question: I'm coming off a bout that lasted 12 weeks - not normal... the intensity HA are over but for the last 3 weeks I've had shadows about lunch time and at night 8:00 PM and on. An Advil or two works, but I can't seem to get away from the damn things. In my normal CH cycle, I shadow for about 2 - 3 weeks before going full bore. At the end I normally the F-ing beast just goes away, no hanging around. Anyone have a thought on this. I've been on no meds (detoxing) for 3 weeks, just Advil and that's been daily...Thanks for the help.... (Oh, by the way, my Doc sucks, too..... looking for a new one - in Dallas that don't think he's a CH epert and listens to us the folks suffering and not his 1/2 a$$ education on CH. ahh - feel better........ ;;D |

Title: Re: Shadows ???? Post by Guiseppi on Nov 8th, 2007, 1:42pm You'll hear it a lot on the board but one of the most frustrating aspects of these thngs is how often they morph. As always communicate with your doctor to make sure it's all part of the CH and nothing else. That being said I've had entire 8-12 week episodes that we're never more then shadows. I'd get the red, droopy eye, runny nose, the dull ache with the racing heart that said "here it comes"........but it never did. It beat the full blown CH but it was a crummy feeling every time wondering if this was the real one. Have you tried 02 to knock the shadows out? Or even an energy drink for the morning and daytime hits? Does the doc have you on any kind of prevent? While I'm on my lithium I rarely get even shadows. Good luck with the doc hunt, finding one that will work WITH you is an absolute Godsend Guiseppi |

Title: Re: Shadows ???? Post by txbeck on Nov 8th, 2007, 3:43pm Headbanger, what part of Dallas are you in? I have a good neuro in Bedford on Airport Freeway, a listener who works with me and knows what he does not know and is more than willing to learn as we go...but who's also up to date on treatment. Let me know if this might be useful to you. |

Title: Re: Shadows ???? Post by txbeck on Nov 11th, 2007, 2:05am Then Bedford is out of the question for you. I'll see him on Thursday and ask if he has a suggestion for someone near downtown familiar with/sympathetic to CH. It's a long shot, but can't hurt to ask. |

Title: Re: Shadows ???? Post by txbeck on Nov 16th, 2007, 11:49am Headbanger, I saw my Neuro yesterday and actually remembered to ask about a referral for you in the downtown Dallas area! He recommended Dr. Stuart Black on Greenville near Presbyterian Hospital. I looked him up online and his creds look good. He is a headache specialist. I hope this works for you. Sorry I originally posted this on the wrong thread! PF wishes, Becky |
