Title: Handidness and the side of attack Post by barnythebear on Sep 28th, 2007, 6:19am I just wondered if any one had looked into this? I'm left handed and have the attacks on my right side. As the right hand side of the brain is dominant in left handed people does it make a difference? |

Title: Re: Handidness and the side of attack Post by George_J on Sep 28th, 2007, 8:47am The "cluster survey" numbers (at the left side of your screen) show 44 % of respondents getting hit on the right, 35 % getting hit on the left, and 19 % getting hit on both sides. Unless the number of left-handed people among clusterheads is significantly different from the population at large (somewhere around 10 % ) I'm guessing that there is little or no relationship between handedness and the side people get hit on. Best wishes, George (Edited for typos. Hey, it's early.) |

Title: Re: Handidness and the side of attack Post by barnythebear on Sep 28th, 2007, 5:00pm Oh well that's another one to bit the dust. I've found with this time that alcohol was not the switch on and it doesn't seem to be affecting it if I have the odd drink. It used to be the starter for me but not this time! Does this happen or am I just being lucky. |

Title: Re: Handidness and the side of attack Post by barnythebear on Oct 2nd, 2007, 5:21pm Like you in the past I've avoided alcohol but I'm a home brewer for gods sake! I've taken the hits in the past when I've had too so my headaches can't be as bad as most. This time after a four year break I think it my be stress related as alcohol was not the trigger. Just seems very unusual but hey who cares!! |

Title: Re: Handidness and the side of attack Post by clusterf_ked on Oct 9th, 2007, 4:33pm Left handed here, with episodic attacks on the left side...also have tinnitus in the left ear, a venous angioma on the left frontal lobe and symptoms from a herniated cervical disc on the left side of my neck, but it's doubtful that any of this is related to the CH. However, I would accept a left upper body transplant if it was available ;;D Regarding booze, I am absolutely on the wagon during my cycles. I'm a few weeks into this year's cycle and was put over the edge into a K8 by one glass of red wine...I'm usually a daily wine drinker (for the cardio benefits ;)), but I don't miss it at all when the CHs come to town. |
