Title: Update on my neuro appt.
Post by printspec on Sep 27th, 2007, 9:45am
I think I really lucked out. Firstly, I got a neuro who had heard of CH and recognized my symptoms immediately. She said that she had dealt with several CH'ers at the VA hospital where she used to work.

I was given some samples of Zomig nasal spray, Imitrex nasal spray, and Imitrex tablets. I got scripts for all 3 and can pick what I want to have filled (or get them all filled).

I go every 6mths for follow-ups unless I need to go in earlier.

I'm so excited that I may finally get some relief when my next cycle hits!

That's great news!

Fingers crossed that one (or all 3) help to ease the symptoms.

Did she make any mention of o2?

Yes, she said she'd had some VA patients that responded well to O2 and it's something that I can try if I feel that I need to.

It's great that you've found someone with experience who'll let you try a variety of things to help.

Let us know if the meds help at all!

Just a follow up on the oxygen!!!!

It continues to be my first line abortive. It will stop an attack in its tracks for me in as little as 6 minutes. But it has to be used correctly or it's next to useless. You need a "Non Rebreather" mask, with a high flow regulator that goes to at least 15 LPM. It's critical you breathe pure oxygen, with no outside air and you don't rebreathe any of the air you've exhaled. I hope it works as well for you, it's an awesome feeling to know you have a weapon that effective when he comes calling.

PS: cut the elastic band off of the mask so if you fall asleep and the tank runs dry you don't suffocate!!!!!!
