Title: hovering around a 2 - 3
Post by Therasa on Sep 24th, 2007, 1:39pm
Since my last hit last week, which was between 7 - 8 KIP and the worst I have had so far, I feel as though I have been hovering around a 2 or 3 since. Pain not that bad at all, but niggling, like an itch. I know its there, Im on edge just waiting for it to hit.... is this normal CH behaviour?
I am new to CH and in my first cycle, so Im still getting used to warnings and phantoms. For example, every now and then I have got a dull throbbing deep in my ear and temple and my nose literally pours on that side, but no further, it just hovers around a 3.....
I stopped taking my amitryptaline until I see the neuro on thursday, they made me feel awful, I couldn't get out of bed after 3rd day!
Im keeping a diary of all this to show neuro too.

Theresa

The one thing you need to remember is that CH will not kill you, and it WILL end if you are episodic.  You need to focus on this.  Live for the pain free hours, and don't worry about when the next hit will come, because it will come.

The beast likes to play mental games with us as well as hurt us.  Our power lies in our ability to live our lives despite what he throws at us.  Do not let him win.

Good luck with your neuro appt.  The headache diary is the best thing you could have done.

Keep us posted.

Hi Thereasa,

I'm sorry to hear the beast is still after you.  What else are you / were you taking besides the Amitryptaline?

My CH's trigger migraines and shadows that can last for days.  So while this isn't typical, it's not unheard of.  So don't let the beast wear you down.  There are lots of tricks to try.  Just tell us what you've been doing and maybe we can suggest some changes to help you out.

Hoping you get some PF time soon.

Im not taking anything else, I stopped the ami as its making me feel ill, when I feel the shadows or phantoms I just take a paracetamol or something in anticipation to take the edge off.
There is noting to take in a full on attack, I tried Imigran, Migralieve, paracetamol, codiene, I even tried an antihisthamine in desperation...... nothing at all helps. I had these gel cool packs so I stuck one of them to my temple, but nothing, I just got more aggitated and looked more ridiculous LOL.
When I see the neuro tomorrow I will see if he can suggest anything, but hey, almost a week since the last "episode" (although still getting phantoms and dull headache), so maybe im at the end of my first cycle? Or maybe the beast will spring up outta nowhere and bite me on the butt...

Energy drinks will beat the shadows down for me.......that's what we call the dull...hang around won't go away pains when we're in cycle..shadows..Try chugging a rock star, mosnter etc energy drink, look for the ones containing both caffeine and taurine...Even a strong cup of coffee will help sometimes.

Stick with the headache diary, it really helps with the diagnosis and trreatment, hang in there, what Sandy said.....it don't kill you.....(though sometimes I wonder!!!!)...enjoy the pain free time.

Hi Thereasa,

You're not using O2 huh?  Why not?  When you go see your Neuro tomorrow that should be on the top of your list.

As for shadows, I use O2 when they get really annoying and I also make sure I'm drinking lots of water (see the tip on the left).  Energy drinks seem to make shadows worse for me.  Everyone is different.  I know... that doesn't help.  I'm sorry.

If you don't have any O2 handy trying breathing in air from a freezer or from an A/C vent in the car.  That helps me sometimes with shadows too.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
