Title: Well, I have an appt. w/a neurologist Post by mom2allyson0526 on Sep 24th, 2007, 10:42am Unfortunately it's not until November 20! :oI am not a happy person about this. I realize there's probably nothing that can be done to push the date up but right now that seems years away. I'm going to find out if the dr. I've been refered to has any experience with headaches. One good thing about my insurance is I can make appts. without referals so I can always see someone else. Still--November 20?! Does it usually take that long to get in to see a neurologist? |

Title: Re: Well, I have an appt. w/a neurologist Post by JDH on Sep 24th, 2007, 10:49am Unfortunately it usually takes a while to get in to see these guys. Maybe you could call his office and tell them to notify you if there are any cancellations. Jim |

Title: Re: Well, I have an appt. w/a neurologist Post by printspec on Sep 25th, 2007, 1:44pm It took a month for me to get an appt (it's tomorrow) and that's with my gp referring me to a guy he knows pretty well and refers a lot of people with headaches to. Definitely check in with them about cancellations. |

Title: Re: Well, I have an appt. w/a neurologist Post by BarbaraD on Sep 25th, 2007, 2:26pm Do you have a GP? If so, get him/her to make a phone call to the neuro and tell them it's an "emergency" that you get in immediately! If you don't have a GP - get one you can work with. You need someone you get into to see in between neuro visits - one who can work with the neuro. Hugs BD |

Title: Re: Well, I have an appt. w/a neurologist Post by Mr_Negative on Sep 25th, 2007, 9:47pm I've had 7 different neurologists and 6 weeks is the quickest I've ever gotten in on the initial visit. When I finally get in to see them (cycle usually ended by then), I say "Please next time get me right in so we can treat this", and they say "Oh, absolutely". And of course they don't. It's another 6 weeks. Currently I have a standing appt. every 6 months, which I never miss. But I can call his nurse (she's awesome) anytime for refills or even to try something new (she checks with him). It's a good arrangement. |

Title: Re: Well, I have an appt. w/a neurologist Post by BarbaraD on Sep 26th, 2007, 7:38am Mr. Neg. and I have the SAME neuro and I'll give a four star rating to him also. He's awesome (and I've been with him for 10 years). Get someone you can WORK with. That's the secret of treating these things. Hugs BD |
