Title: Glossary needed Post by Neil_C on Sep 7th, 2007, 5:09am Guys and Gals, As im a "newb" and hate asking questions like what does "PF" and RC" etc mean, and someone would have to answer everytime, and not just to my questions. I thought it wouldnt be a bad idea to have a glossary of the termanology and abbreviations used in this forum. Could one of you more experienced members please put something together? Preferably modifing the same and original post so no digging is needed. Also making it a sticky in all boards would be great too. I think it would be a great reference. What you think? I hope im not asking for too much ;) Thanks peeps N |

Title: Re: Glossary needed Post by LeLimey on Sep 7th, 2007, 5:26am PF is pain free PFDANS is pain free days and nights RC are Rivea Corymbosa seeds and HBWR is Hawaiian Baby Wood Rose. Any others you see just ask away! There is a list on the front of the site with quite a few listed but we invent new ones all the time cos we're lazy typists here ;) |

Title: Re: Glossary needed Post by Neil_C on Sep 7th, 2007, 5:36am Helen, It had to be you :) Im not too lazy to look things up. I just thought it maybe a good idea for all, especially newbies like myself. I was thinking of all abbreviations and terminology, not just 4 off the head ones darling. Alphabetical order and maybe some loving touch to the layout wouldnt hurt. Keep firing at me and Ill put it together if need be. N |

ROTFLMAO which means rolling on the floor laughing my arse off :-* It is a good idea, thinking of them all is tough though so this thread is perfect as we can compile a list, and add to it constantly. Not bad thinking for a mere male :o LOL Laugh out Loud LMMFAO Laughing my Mother - umm.. okay you can work that one out for yourself! Jonny likes it TOO much when I swear! There are a lot of variations on that theme - adding PMP is umm.. "piddling" ;) my pants for instance, once you get used to it you can guess. It should have at least two sections if you're making a list (Thank you for volunteering) medical and humourous I think CH obviously is Cluster Headaches, CH'er - Cluster Headache sufferer. TAC - Trigeminal Autonomic Cephalagias. The headache group CH belongs in PH Paroxysmal Hemicrainia - another TAC CPH Chronic Paroxysmal Hemicrainia SUNCT - Short lasting Unilateral Neuralgiform headache attacks with Conjuntival injection and Tearing - which is also a TAC. TN - Trigeminal Neuralgia I'll keep adding as I think of them and if everyone else does too we should be able to produce a fairly comprehensive list! |

Title: Re: Glossary needed Post by Kevin_M on Sep 7th, 2007, 8:24am If you converse with Helen a bit, a needed supplement also is British slang to American English that should be kept nearby. They might make a wayward and cantankerous perverse British slang edition, too, because if you may need to ask her meanings, that can be even more confusing. Until you get used to it, nodding and pretending to understand can go just so far getting through a post if she lays it on. This is where I should mention WTF (WHAT THE F***)can mean confusion or surprise but has various uses. There are few to pm for answers if lost translating Helen-speak. Otherwise, she's a most pleasant and informative talk as you can see, always. :) |

Yep. I see where you are coming from. Ive been a member for less than a week now and have noticed Helen is also capable of introducing new words into the language when it suits her :D "equalish" was used I believe. If need be, I will act as a translator for english slang etc. Spent 8 years in british boarding schools south of London. Ive think ive heard all the lingo from all 4 corners of the British Isles. I do have a problem however understanding people that live in Nottinghamshire but I think most British speaking people do because they dont want anything to do with them ;) N PS. Im hoping Helen doesnt spot this post :) |

Title: Re: Glossary needed Post by Neil_C on Sep 7th, 2007, 12:49pm The thing to do when reading Welch people's english is to read it out aloud but with a high pitched voice. :D ...and think of green landscapes and... sheep :o Only kidding guys and gals N |

Title: Re: Glossary needed Post by LeLimey on Sep 7th, 2007, 12:52pm I don't make words up Urkiballs ::) - and a butty is a sandwich here Kevin you oik! Neil, I'd take offence if I thought you were a worthy opponent but you ARE a mere male and as such just a waste disposal system ;) I'm actually a Londoner and only living up here as I made the mistake of getting married to someone who was a "Norf" I don't intend living here forever though. Now back to the subject in hand - thats acronyms if any of you are confused by that statement :P |
