Title: Sinus issues and Bruxism? Post by Neil_C on Sep 4th, 2007, 4:42pm Just out of interest and I know it means going back many years for some. Did any of you suffer from sinus issues before being hit with CH for the first time? Next one, did any of you suffer of Bruxism before or after the first hit? For those that dont know what Bruxism is, it is the clenching and grinding of teeth at night. The reason why I am asking this is because I was initially diagnosed with Sinusitis and then Bruxism. It was only when the ENT specialist and the dental specialist gave up, a neurologist was called in and bingo here I am. Im just wondering if there is a connection. This guy seems to want to blame it on me smoking less than 20 a day and nothing else. Any input is good input thanks Neil_C |

Title: Re: Sinus issues and Bruxism? Post by BarbaraD on Sep 4th, 2007, 5:11pm I was raised in East Texas - pine trees - alergies/sinus are just a given from childhood (clusters hit after menopause). Teeth grinding? I was married for 45 years - of course I grind my teeth while sleeping! Seriously - I don't think these cause CH, but most of us suffer from them. Smoking -- tell the guy to go take a leap off a short pier! Over half the people here have NEVER smoked and a whole lot have quit. We've NEVER found that smoking or drinking is any reason to have CH (dispelled the heavy drinking/smoking/male theory years ago). Tell the guy to CATCH up on about 10 years of NEW things. There is NO KNOWN cause (yet) for CH and NO KNOWN cure. We all have different triggers and different things that help us. Right now the best defense most of us use is O2. Then there's Red Bull, and our own special cocktails (verap, lithium, topamax and others for prevents ---- imitrex or ergotomine for aborts). Before you go back to the guy - read up on what's available and print it out and take it to him. If he won't listen to you -- FIND A NEW DOC! Hugs BD |

Title: Re: Sinus issues and Bruxism? Post by Beastfodder on Sep 4th, 2007, 6:39pm Big yes to the sinus thing. Some do think it's a precursor to the onset of a cycle. Did have the misfortune to be mis diagnosed and had rhinoplasty and removal of infected sinus linings done to me back in the late '90s. Didn't cure the CH the following year, or any of the following years come to think of that. Sounds like you're lucky the ENT guy gave up or it could've been the knife or worse some false teeth! Wife definitely has Bruxism so maybe it's an Irish thing?! You're doing well to fit 20 tabs a day in over there with the sweet smelling & smoke free pubs out there. Though in the country the smoking ban did confirm that farmers smell of cow pooh and Guinness does make you fart! All the best battling the beast |
