Title: specs appeal Post by southwalessunshine on Jul 23rd, 2007, 2:40pm Hi all, Over the last month or so the characteristics of my CH have been changing, and over the lastfew weeks I've been having probs wearing my specs. I've worn them for yrs with no probs but lately when I wear them I get pressure and aching across the bridge of my nose and a headache similar to a shadow. If I take them off immediatley I am stuck with the pain for a few hrs. If I leave them on it turns into a Ch. If I stop wearing my specs I get the normal probs of sore eyes etc that you get for straining your eyes. Has anyone else here experienced this? Could it really be connected to my glasses or not? |

Title: Re: specs appeal Post by GrandPotentate on Jul 23rd, 2007, 10:38pm I've had eyestrain headaches, but never had one develop into a hit. Actually, I can get all the "normal" headaches for all the "normal" reasons quite independently. But we are all a little different. |

Title: Re: specs appeal Post by alienspacebabe on Jul 24th, 2007, 10:37am I had something similar during a weird part of a high cycle, so you're not alone.... Some suggestions: - get your eyes checked again to see if your prescription has changed - take a good look at the meds you're taking - some can cause vision disturbances - go without glasses whenever you can. Okay, so the last one isn't great if you want to walk around and not walk into walls, but it's an idea. My first thought, though, is that it could possibly be a new med causing problems. Good luck. Title: Re: specs appeal Post by Wayne on Jul 24th, 2007, 11:20am I had exactly the same problem with wearing sunglasses, there's nothing wrong with my eyesight as such but I do get strain in bright sunlight. Last cycle and this one I had exactly the same 'shadow problem as you report here. figured it was better to use eyedrops! |

Title: Re: specs appeal Post by Sandy_C on Jul 24th, 2007, 1:57pm I'm episodic, and I wear reading glasses, non-prescription, just buy them at the local pharmacy. But, considering my work, they are on my face for at least 8 to 10 hours a day. Out of cycle, I have no problems, Yet, in cycle, during a hit, I absolutely cannot stand the pressure, as light as it is, on my nose. I do continue to wear them while at work, until hit. They immediately have to come off, because of the pressure on the right side of my nose, which drips constantly. My glasses to not cause a CH hit, yet the small amount of pressure seems to aggravate the runny nostril, and increase the pain level of the hit. I agree, go get your eyes checked again. If you need new glasses, get the absolute lightest frames possible for your prescription. Even with new eyeglasses, you may find them to be more of a bother than a help during a hit. At that point, I choose to "go blind" if it reduces the pain. Sandy |

Title: Re: specs appeal Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Jul 25th, 2007, 1:04am That does seem weird. I would certainly get a thorough eye exam, to check your vision and also your general eye health. When was the last time you had a thorough exam or got a new prescription for your glasses? Maybe even just get your glasses fit by the eye professionals. Having the correct angle of the lense is important for eye fatigue and eye strain. |
