Title: Botox?
Post by horsegirl on Jun 21st, 2007, 10:19pm
I have heard insurance pays for Botox for migraines, and clusters on the news once.

Has anyone tried this with cluster headaches?

I was going to but I'm so close to my usual time of it ending for hopefully a couple years like usual.

Medical literature is scant on the subject and outcomes reported are not encouraging. Look elsewhere for more effective treatments.

Here is a link to read and print and take to your doctor.  It describes preventive, transitional, abortive and surgical treatments for CH. Written by one of the better headache docs in the U.S.  (2002)

Eve, I've considered the botox thing too, just as a long-shot, but I'll stick to what is currently working for me: verapamil as preventive. So far, I've not been too lucky in the abortives but going to push the dr for a script for O2 (he turned me down the last time I asked).

And when that Bob guy or that Jonny guy tell ya something-  listen.   ;)

It is probably just a coincidence but I went for Botox injections about a month ago for vanity and my CH's came back 2 weeks ago.  Of course I will look for any reason to blame them on.  I will never do that again either way.  Great to hear that your so close to the end!
