Title: overweight??
Post by splendid on Jun 21st, 2007, 9:01pm
I know this may sound like a stupid question but does anybody think that being over weight will cause the clusters to happen more often?  Last year i went on a diet before cluster season for me due to a trip we were goin to go on.  this year(over the winter) i put on alot of weight.(most i have ever weighed in my life) i am 6'2 and weighing bout 263 pounds. Last year i was down to 230 pounds. I had them bout 3-5 days a week last year.  This year i am pretty much having them everyday and sometime twice a day or more.  Could my weight have anything to do with this? i am planning on losin the weight regardless but just curious

There are no stupid questions around this place,  ;)otherwise most of us wouldn't be here.  I expect we've all wondered out loud about a variety of causes.

Losing the weight would be a good thing for your cardiac health, but frankly, it'll do squat for your CH.

Hate to break it to you like that but I expect a poll of our members would find everyone from the tiniest to the very largest of folks.

I started getting CHs at age 14 I was 5'11" and weighed 140 soaking wet.I am now the same hight and weigh 220 (fatass) I'm sick about it.My CHs through all that weight gain never changed there schedule still the same.Through that time I gained and lost and they never changed.Believe me you should still try to drop the tonnage(me also) it would be good for our health.Right now I'm on a diet AGAIN I will let you know how I do you do the same we can be weight loss buddy's give each other a challenge god knows I need one.

I personally don't think weight has anything to do with CH's.
I started having CH's when I was 12 now I am 35 and I think I weight a lot more now than back then  ;), but still losing weight will help you (and me  ;;D) in general health issues, like colestherol and triglicerids levels.

It exacerbates sleep apnea, but I don't think it affects CH. Of course, I'm not a doctor either.

I've been all different weights throughout the years.  At my heaviest I was over 300 lbs   :o and my CH was out of control.

But since then I am now at a weight of 135 - 150 lbs (I yoyo in that range) I have had my CH out of control many times.  (BTW I'm chronic if that matters to your question)  In my personal experience weight hasn't affected my ch, but it sure did affect my self esteem when I couldn't fit into the largest pair of pants that wallyworld sold and I couldn't walk across the house without losing my breath!

I don't think being overweight make it happen more often.  I'm not overweight right now and mine is at it's most frequent in my life.

the only good thing about these headaches is i loose weight in four weeks i went from 172 to 156 not only do i get sick if i have anything over a kip 7 but just not hungry and the less drinking has something to do with it.but  it was dangerous when i only weighed 100 when the ha first started  so no i dont think weight has anything much to do with it

his brings back the connection of Sleep apnea and Clusters as well.  I have been having these for WAY too long and I was not over weight when they started However, I have been sence going chronic and have sufford from Sleep Apnea as well during this time  so it might  MIGHT contribute.  I am not convinced either way.

I don't think being overweight is much of a contributing factor to CH.

I do however believe that WHAT you eat is more important than HOW MUCH you eat with regard to CH.

It won't be true for all CH sufferers, but for me eating too much wheat/gluten and sugar products definately makes me more "headachy". It also gives me indigestion makes me feel less than 100%.

if you are a big bread, pizza, pasta, cake, cookie, sweet eater, then try and give these things up and see if you feel better. Try more fresh fruit and veg instead. I also found I liked brown rice and helped fill the void from lack of wheat carbs.
